Psalm God Jesus Devotional Prolife

God is Omniscient

Psalm 139:1-6 declares the omniscience of God.  Do you know that God is deeply familiar with all your ways?  He knows you!  He loves you!  He has set you aside for a purpose!  Let’s walk through Psalm 139:1-6 and see just how familiar God is with all our ways!

O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.  (Psalm 139:1)

1.  God Knows You

Nothing in your life is hidden from God.  In fact, the word “searched” in verse 1 means, “to explore, to spy out, and to dig deeply into.”  God sees what no one else can see!  He sees the very depths of your being.  I can’t imagine what He sees at the depth of my being.  It leaves me in awe that He sees all the yuckiness of my heart and still continues to love me.

“You know when I sit, and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.”(Psalm 139:2)
2.  God Sees Your Heart

Everyone around us can see our actions, but only God can see our hearts.  He knows our intentions.  He knows every thought we think.  Are your thoughts lining up with God’s best for you?  Is your heart pleasing to the Lord?

“You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.”(Psalm 139:3)

3.  God Sees Ahead

Only God can see what’s ahead for your life.  Only He can see what a day’s events will look like.  He is familiar with everything about you!  There is nothing that escapes His knowledge of you.  You can entrust the details of today to God.

“Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely O Lord.” (Psalm 139:4)

4.  No Surprises with God

Nothing you say or do takes God by surprise!  God knows you better than you know yourself.  Do your words speak life to others?  Would you be able to stand before God today and be proud of the words you have spoken?

“You hem me in–behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.” (Psalm 139:5)

5.  God Protects You

God has placed a hedge of protection around you.  You can be sure that nothing will touch your life without producing some kind of good.  You might not always understand the circumstances or the trials you face, but I can guarantee you that God will bring His good through it.  “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

“Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” (Psalm 139:6)

6.  You can Trust God

Even when you don’t understand what God is doing, you can still trust Him.  I have days where God’s love and grace leave me speechless.  Days where I’m in awe of the mercy He continues to pour out on my life.  Then I have days where I wonder what God’s doing.  Does He see what’s going on?  Does He care?  The answer is, “Yes, He sees it and He cares!”  I never have to understand what God is doing to fully trust and obey Him.  I need to remember that God’s ways are not my ways and His thoughts are truly higher than my own (Isaiah 55:8-9).

How does it make you feel that God knows everything about you?  Do you find comfort in the fact that God knows all and sees all?

Dear Father God, Thank You for searching me and knowing me.  Thank You for loving me through good times and bad.  I praise the work of Your hands and trust the details of my life to You.  I know that Your plan is perfect, even when it doesn’t make sense to me.  I’m simply overwhelmed by Your love for me.

Trusting my All-Knowing God,

Isn’t that the truth! It’s hard to imagine that God can see and know everything about us and still love us. Jesus certainly made the most amazing sacrifice on our behalf, so that we can enjoy a beautiful relationship with God!
