I know if any of you are like me, you tend to want to know who someone is before you decide to go have coffee with them. So let me give you some insight into Solomon’s life. Let’s take a look at his credentials and find out why we can glean from his wisdom!
Solomon is the author of most of the Proverbs. He also wrote Psalm 72 and 127, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon. Solomon was the ruler of Israel from 971-931 B.C. In 1 Kings 3 we find out how Solomon became the wisest man to walk the earth. It is here we read that God came to Solomon in a dream and asked this question, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you (1 Kings 3:5).” Solomon’s answer was this, “So give your servant a discerning heart to go govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong… (1 Kings 3:9).” God’s answer to this is quite amazing!
