Praying Through the Gospels

When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent word into all that surrounding district and brought to Him all who were sick; and they implored Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were cured. (Matthew 14:34-36, NASB)

I would like to start a new series on here called, “Praying through the Gospels”.  Please take time to read the passage of Scripture I mention and ask God to work in your heart.  May these prayers through the Gospels bless and encourage you in your walk with the Lord!

Please feel free to share your own prayers, I would love to read them!

Here is my prayer from this passage…

Reflecting the King

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.  But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it— HE WILL BE BLESSED IN WHAT HE DOES. (James 1:22-25)

We were watching a movie last night on tv with some friends called “Deck the Halls”.  The movie came out in 2006 and really is quite funny.  But even more than that, there is a reality behind it that leads me to the sad truth in most people on this earth.  The two main characters in this story are trying to find their identity in this world.  They want to be seen by people around them.  The goal of the neighbor who has just moved in is to be seen on Google earth, to be seen from space.  Isn’t that the goal of most people we meet in life?

Always Faithful

So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free. (John 8:36, AMP)

Time to Refuel

I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. (John 15:5, AMP)

This last week I realized that I was running on empty.  I had somehow managed to get to a place where there was nothing left but fumes.  It’s my fault.  I didn’t stop as often as I should have to spend time with the Lord during my trip home to be with my Dad.  Yes, I had moments here and there with the Lord.  But nothing like what I have when I’m home.  I carve out the time.  I make the effort.  I don’t let a day go by without some really good time in the Word.  But somehow when life gets crazy, when the storms hit, and chaos breaks forth.  My time seems to escape me.  I go through a day just happy to survive.  Happy to have one more day!

God Bless the USA

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)

I want to give a big thank you to all of you who have served in our military.  Thank you for protecting my freedoms and the freedoms of our country.  Thank you for the sacrifices you made and for your willingness to play an active role in defending our country.  May this day be extra special for you!
