Eternity Perspective Trust God Jesus Devotional

God’s Vantage Point

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. (Isaiah 55:8)

This passage of Scripture tends to make a lot of sense to me.  I don’t have to dig too deep or look into it too heavily to understand it.  I’ve lived it!  I’ve seen that God’s thoughts are much different than my own.  His ways are certainly much different than my ways!  I’m very grateful for this most days.  Yes, I did say most days.  I have days where I do not understand what God is doing or why we differ so much on how things should be done.  I guess sometimes I just want to be clued in!  Can you identify with that thought?

The truth is many of us want in on what God is thinking.  We want to know what the plan is and how things are going to work out.  We’re kind of like children in that way because we ask a lot of questions.  Sometimes we get some answers, but most of the time we don’t.  It’s so important to remember that God’s perspective on our life is a lot different.  Let’s look at the next portion of Scripture in Isaiah.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9)

God will always have an eternal perspective when He’s looking at our lives.  He has a greater vantage point than we do when looking at the circumstances of our lives.  It’s actually quite a relief to know that God has all the answers.  He will never get tired of viewing things from His perspective.  He can handle what is going on in our lives, much more than we can.  His thoughts about our lives are better contained than our own thoughts.  He knows how to handle tomorrow.  He knows how to embrace today.  He knows how to forgive the mistakes of yesterday.  He knows how to prepare for the future.  He knows how to love your children.  He knows how to love your husband.  He knows how to love the unlovable.  He knows how to help you do your best at your job.  He knows about your finances.  He knows how to heal your body.  He knows virtually everything that is causing you pain.  He will not leave you.  He will not fail you.  He will ALWAYS love you!

So please don’t worry if you don’t have everything figured out because there is One who has it all under control.  Hang on to the One who is unchanging!  Remain in His steadfast love and rest in the fact that His thoughts are higher than yours!

Dear Father God, Thank You that I can just be me.  I don’t have to have everything figured out.  I don’t have to be in control.  I can be along for the adventure of a lifetime with You God.  Thank You for sending Your Son to give me purpose, meaning, and True Life.  I’m so blessed to be living for Someone who knows my thoughts better than I do.  Help me to accomplish Your ways!

      Hi Lisa,

I’m so glad you enjoyed the post. That eternal perspective is pretty tricky. I’m learning to focus in on it a little more every day! Less of me and more of God. I pray God will continue His good work in you!

      In His Grip of Grace,
      Sarah
