Big Brother
Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. (Psalm 127:3)
My sweet little boy is going to be 2 years old on Saturday, May 16th. I thought a perfect way to celebrate his two years of life is to write about him and the many lessons that God has taught me through him. So this week I will be focusing on my son Zion and the beautiful gift he has been to me. Before I continue, I thought it’s only fitting to also announce that we are expecting a little brother for Zion in June.
It continues to amaze me that God has entrusted me with this beautiful boy. And now God is entrusting me with one more. I pray every day that I can raise my boys to love Jesus. I want them to both follow God with all their hearts. I want them to have a passion for Jesus that far surpasses my passion. I want them to be led by the Holy Spirit, sensitive to God’s leading so much more so than I have been in my life. I want them to be lovers of God’s Word. I pray they will be courageous, that they will stand up for God, that they will fight for freedom, that they will be a joy to this world, and that I can raise them to be men after God’s own heart.
From the beginning, I have treated my son like the future man God intends him to be. I’m not raising a baby. I’m raising a future man, I’m raising a future husband, a future father, a future leader, and a Kingdom impacter. I keep this in mind every day because my little boy will one day not be a little boy any more. Sure, I still enjoy every minute of his growing years. I get down on the floor often, I laugh with him, we cuddle on the couch, and we enjoy many moments together. These and many other moments are the joys I get to experience as a mother. There truly has been no greater joy for me than loving my sweet little boy.
Thank you God for my incredible son! I love him so much and I’m so blessed that You have entrusted him to me. I pray that I can daily raise him to love you with all his heart, soul, and strength. Please give me wisdom on how best to teach Zion about You. May I teach him how to have a heart for You, how to live for you, and how to impact eternity for you! Lord, please continue to guide me so that I can raise a man who greatly impacts your Kingdom!
Offering my sons to you Lord,
