I Run to the Lord

Read Proverbs 12 today!

To tell you the truth… I’m not really into the running part of this verse.  I like the “you are safe” part.  I don’t really enjoy running.  I enjoy a good brisk walk, but not a run.  But this verse tells me to run… to Run… TO RUN!  I have the ability to run to God.  He gives me the strength to move forward.  He wants me to realize that I can’t do anything on my own.  I do not have what it takes to survive without God.  He wants me to come running to the grace that saved me… to the love that set me free.  He wants me to run to the promises found in His Word.  He wants me to come with all my garbage and lay it down at His feet (the only place where my garbage is safe).

God does not ridicule me for not have everything perfect in life.  He never gets fed up with me!  He never stops loving me!  He never stops being a strong tower that I can run to!  He is God and He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for me, so that I can experience true life.  I have a relationship with my Father because Jesus laid down His life for my sins.  I no longer have to shed my blood or the sacrifice of an animal to please God.  Jesus took my place!  He laid down His life.  He made it possible for me to have the freedom to run to God.

Overcomer

I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.” (Philippians 3:12-14, MSG)

Bow Only to God

Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them.  Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.  Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.  Though it cost all you have, get understanding. (Proverbs 4:5-6)
