It’s amazing how God’s Word can be broken down passage by passage and retain such knowledge for us in today!  This passage in particular shares five commands that God has laid out very simply and clearly for us.  They are not to be taken lightly and not to be ignored.  I pray you will take each one into consideration and ask yourself how you can become stronger in each area.  Let’s start at the beginning.

Understanding

Oh, how I seek more understanding each day that I live.  And each day presents a new obstacle.  Today my husband and I were going to spend the evening at the beach, walk it, and watch the sunset.  Well, thanks to GPS on our phones we ended up in a small town closer to home.  Our purpose was to find a place for dinner, but the two places we went to must have been shut down.  We could have kicked and screamed about how life just wasn’t going our way, but I believe I wrote a devotional about life being half full yesterday.   So there we were in this small town where soon we found out a few of the stores were closed down and there were few options for dinner.

Hit a Home Run

To say that today has been interesting would be an under statement.  I realized that posting a devotional about Jesus Christ being the only way to Heaven would present an open door for people to offer feedback or disagree.  I have had one very interesting conversation take place with a man who is practicing Buddhism.  He feels that Christians are very closed minded and the devotional didn’t sit well with him.  He left a comment for me to find this morning.  This has reminded me of the verse above.

Today I was in the grocery store, waiting at the deli for a pound of turkey.  There was another man who had asked for a pound of turkey right after me, only he had asked for “cracked pepper turkey” and I had asked for “garlic and herb turkey”.  The woman who was helping him reached for the turkey that was laid out for me and went to use this for the man.  She was about to give him the wrong deli sliced turkey to take home.  I leaned in and let her know what kind of turkey it was and the simple mistake was easily straightened out.

Do you have the TIME?

Today was a day of celebration.  My husband and I headed to the beach after church today to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior.  Every where I went I made sure to say, “Happy Resurrection Day!”  There is a difference between this and Happy Easter!  It all started at breakfast with our waitress.  She said, “Happy Easter” and I said “Happy Resurrection Day!”  She said, “You’re right, that’s what it’s all about!”  It was an exciting beginning, especially after a great service at church.  Our pastor talked about the things in this world that we thirst for and the only thing that can truly quench our thirst is Jesus.  Read more
