Friend or Enemy of God ~ Pt. 3

Behold, I am coming soon!  My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.  (Revelation 22:12-13)

Monday, I shared with you some thoughts about what my Facebook and Twitter accounts have to say about my relationship with the Lord.  If you would like to take a look at that post you can read it here, Friend or Enemy of God ~ Pt. 1  Wednesday I shared some thoughts on what my Bible, conversations, emails, and books reveal about my relationship with the Lord. You can read that post here, Friend or Enemy of God ~ Pt. 2 Today let’s look at a few more things.  My hope is that we can further evaluate where God would like to use us through the different activities we daily participate in.

Beauty from Brokenness

And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. (Romans 8:28, AMP)

I learned a valuable lesson this last week.  I was still caught up in my brokenness from a family dilemma.  My heart was broken and I was trying to put the pieces back together.  I kept seeking the Lord and asking when this would heal completely.  During one of my prayers, the Lord gently reminded me that beauty comes from brokenness.  I was so busy trying to heal from the brokenness that I was missing the beauty of what God wanted to bring through it.

Best of Intentions

Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.  (Colossians 3:2)

I had the best of intentions this last week.  I started the week intending to pray more, to be less distracted, and more engaged in Christ.  I started out with my eyes fixed on Jesus.  Then the week progressed with bad news after bad news.  Each time it was like I was experiencing a gut punch.  You know… one of those punches that leave you breathless and wondering what just happened.  Yes, that’s the only way I can explain it.

Shine for Jesus

Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.  God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.  If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you?  I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!  Keep open house; be generous with your lives.  By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 (MSG)

Let’s take the time to shine for Jesus this week!  You never know where you will be shining a light into someone’s darkness.  Your light for Jesus may be the only thing that brightens up the office, the home, the school, the store, etc.  Shine for Jesus so that people can know the Truth and find hope in what sometimes feels like a hopeless world.  Here is a story to help put this verse into perspective… Read more

I Stand Forgiven

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:11-12

As I celebrate my birthday, I think of how much God has done in my life and how much I’ve been forgiven for.  I’m blessed to be a child of God, living for a Kingdom purpose, with Jesus Christ as my fixed point of reference, and the Holy Spirit as my constant guide.  Yesterday, I turned 36 years old.  I celebrate the many years that God has given me knowing Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior.  Truly nothing in life has ever compared to this!  So as I sat and reflected on these thoughts I wrote the following devotional.  I hope you enjoy it!
