The Only Answer

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4:9)

I know that Christmas is a great time of year for most of us, but I don’t neglect to think about those who are going through a rough patch during this Christmas season.  My prayers are with you, as you face your trials.  May you be strengthened through the following words, knowing that Jesus is the answer!  He will see you through even your most difficult times!

My Eternal Resume

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)

What’s God doing in your life?

This is my favorite question to ask when I meet up with someone. I absolutely love celebrating what God is doing. How has He been faithful to you?  Did He answer a prayer?  Did He show up in an unexpected way in your life?  Did He supply your needs in a new way?  I would love to hear all about it.

God has done a lot in my life.  I have watched Him be extremely faithful, answer some prayers, teach me to forgive again and again, help me to love in new ways, and so much more.  He is quite amazing!  In fact, this last month God has really been working on me regarding what my Eternal Resume looks like.  That’s right!  I remember back in 2011, prior to kids I was preparing for two reunions and I started to think, “What do I have to show for?  What will I have to say when I’m asked those famous questions?”  I was going down a never-ending road, but God caught me.  He showed me that my Earthly Resume isn’t worth much.  It will collect dust and fade away in time.  But all the things I do for His glory and honor will last for eternity!  All the things that can go on an Eternal Resume never fade away.

So here are a list of questions I’m asking myself almost daily, as I focus on what my Eternal Resume will look like for my Savior and King!

Laser Like Focus

But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.  For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.  He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.  Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 4:8-11)

This is a great way to start the week.  This passage is packed full of sweet morsels to get you through a new day.  I pray this acronym below encourages you and uplifts you in many ways.

Patterns of the Mind

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:1-2)

Another week has come and gone.  I would like to take a look at our spiritual temperature by asking the one question I want you to become familiar with.

What is God doing in your life? When you reflect back on the week, what do you see?  Have you seen God’s faithfulness in your life?  Have you seen God use the verses you have applied to memory?  Have you seen God show up in a specific way in your life?  If so, I would love to hear about it.  Please drop me a line and let me know what God has done in your life.

Source of Life

I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.  John 15:5 (AMP)

Let’s look at who Jesus is and what His life offers for us.  Please take time to read John 15:1-17.  This will give you a better understanding of Jesus and His character as the True Vine.

This passage is fairly easy to understand…  We have life flowing through us when we stay attached to the True Vine.  It’s amazing how much life can flow through me when I’m attached to the Word and all that God says.  But the moment, I disconnect… the moment I disengage… death starts to creep in.  Okay, maybe not literally.  But Satan starts to hit with anxiety, condemning thoughts, frustration, irritation, anger, selfishness, and so much more.  My mouth tends to say too much when I’m not daily renewed by God’s Word.  Yes, it gets pretty ugly.  This is why I have to keep going back to the Word.  The Word is my life source.  It is what breathes goodness into me.
