Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.’ (Luke 1:29-33)
And Mary said: ‘My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me–
holy is his name.
While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:6-7)
‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.’ At once they left their nets and followed him. (Matthew 4:19-20)
It seems that no matter how many times I read this passage of Scripture, it still amazes me. There was no hesitation! There was no questioning! The men simply left their nets to follow Jesus. There have been many times in my life where God has asked me to drop my nets and follow Him. But I have to be honest, most of the time I’m not ready to drop everything. I tend to want to figure things out and ask a lot of questions. I want the where, when, how, and why of the situation. I want it all. Often, all I get is “Just come follow me!”
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10)
Lately, I have been hearing two words from the Lord… “Just wait…” I would love for Him to finish that sentence. Let me know what I’m waiting for, how long should I wait, and when can I be done waiting! Waiting is not my strong suit. But this is where God has me. I continue to go to Him on many things and the answer continues to be, “Just wait…”
Really, that’s it! Just wait! I would love a little more information please, but it’s not coming. Not at this time! God has a plan and I’m sure it’s incredible. I will have to wait, as only He knows what’s best.
