Puzzle Pieces

The Lord said, “I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” (Habakkuk 1:5)

Are you waiting for God to do something in your life?  Do you see something beginning and wonder where God will go with it?  Or do you see a box of puzzle pieces just waiting for someone to help you put them together?  Maybe you have started to put the pieces together.  I know as a little girl, my family would work on big puzzles together.  We would get out the 500 or 1000 piece puzzles and put them on a special table.  We would start with the outer edge and work on it little by little.  It was a fun family project.  Often I found myself working on a little portion of the puzzle, maybe 5 to 10 pieces.  I was trying to figure out how they fit together.  It was always a fun challenge.

Take the Call

The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ Then Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’ (1 Samuel 3:10)

I was spending some time with the Lord today in one of my favorite books of the Bible.  It’s amazing that no matter how many times I read the Bible, something new always appears.  God continues to make His Word so exciting and so relevant for me today.  I pray this passage and all of chapter 3 will be used in your life.

Have you ever been waiting for God to speak to you and heard nothing?  Have you waited time and again, yet there is no answer?  Samuel was in a place where he was still young.  He had been dedicated to the Lord by his mother Hannah and Eli was now taking care of him.

“…Word from the Lord was rare in those days; revelatory visions were infrequent.” (1 Samuel 3:1)

No Limits

God is infinite!  That’s the hardest thought I will ask you to grasp.  You cannot understand what infinite means, but don’t let it bother you–I don’t understand it and I’m trying to explain it!  “Infinite” means so much that nobody can grasp it, but reason nevertheless kneels and acknowledges that God is infinite.  We mean by infinite that God knows no limits, no bounds and no end.  What God is, He is without boundaries.  All that God is, He is without bounds or limits.  (A.W. Tozer from “The Attributes of God”)

I’m reading this book on the Attributes of God.  It’s my third time going through it and I absolutely love it.  This time I’m studying it for the next book I will be writing and I thought I would take the time to share some thoughts I have along the way.  It’s an incredible book and it will truly leave you in awe, if you choose to read it.

God’s Infinitude

What a thought?  It’s one that I can’t grasp.  There is no beginning and no end to who He is in our lives.  It is what is!  In fact, I think it gives peace to all those unanswered questions in life.  The ones that are left in my brain rattling around, waiting for the moment to just sit with God and ask Him one by one.

Range of Motion

But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.  I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him… (Philippians 3:7-9)

Today I went in for an appointment with my new neurologist.  I had set this appointment up in June of 2008, right after I moved from Minnesota to Florida.  I knew it would be important to start over with a new neurologist, so I set myself up with the nearest appointment I could get with someone who specialized in the field of neurology that I have struggled with most recently.

Tuning into the Right Station

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (Exodus 20:7, KJV)

“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.” (Exodus 20:7)

Tune your radio into the right station!

Tune your radio into the right station!

Today, I was driving to meet a friend for coffee.  It’s always funny how God can meet you right where you’re at when you are listening.  My drive was maybe a mile or two away and in this time I heard something quite profound on the radio.  It stuck with me all day today and I have been dissecting it.  This is what I heard, “If you don’t believe in Santa, Under God, and Pledge of Allegiance you might have the wrong radio station.”  My initial response was how odd that santa would be equated with under God.  I mean can we really put a fictional character in the same sentence with God.  I know we do it, but does it make sense.

I can see where the radio station is coming from.  They are trying to make a point that Christmas is a celebration of Christ and just like we don’t take Santa out of all the Christmas songs, so also we need not take the reason for celebrating out of Christmas. “Merry Christmas” is not just a saying, it is a celebration of the Savior’s birth.  It’s not a time to just get out the lights, gifts, and eggnog.  It’s a time to celebrate Jesus CHRIST!
