Handing Over the Paintbrush

…Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14)

This is one of my favorite verses!  I love that I’m called to forget what lies behind me.  Yesterday can only trip me up if I let it.  I make the choice daily to start fresh with a clean slate.  God’s mercies are new for me each morning.  What an amazing thought!  I don’t have to live on yesterday’s mercies and I don’t have to wallow in all that wasn’t accomplished.  For today is a new day and God has something beautiful in store for it.

“Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NKJV)

Old Habits Die Hard

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God… (Philippians 2:14-15)

I love it when Scripture just pricks your heart.  Just a little nudge in the right direction!  Way too often it becomes easy to complain about how busy we are, things that we don’t have, problems that we are facing, family issues, financial strains, and so much more!  You name it and we find a way to complain about it.

It’s time to adjust our line of thinking.  It’s time to look at what we have and all that God is doing.  Let’s be people who declare God’s goodness!  Let us learn how to daily walk without complaining.  The world might even take notice, if enough of us give up that old habit of complaining!

Lessons in Leaning

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it onto completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)

This last Summer, I had a great opportunity to spend some time in Italy with my incredible husband.  The trip was amazing and I was blessed to see some new things in my faith journey with the Lord.  Our final stop on our trip was in Pisa, Italy.  It was here I learned the value of “Leaning”.

Have you ever thought that maybe the Tower of Pisa woudn’t be so famous, had it not been leaning?  The value in the Bell Tower comes from it’s ability to lean and not fall.  This got me to thinking, am I more valuable to God when I’m leaning!  More valuable when I’m leaning on the Word!  More valuable when I admit my imperfections!  More valuable when I surrender control!  The answer is a resounding “YES”!

Standing in Awe

Praise the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.

He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.

My Father Knows Best

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29)

What’s God doing in your life?

I gave you a week off, so now you have two weeks to look back on and see how God has been faithful to you.  What did you see in these last two weeks?  How did God come through for you?  Is God stirring a passion inside of you?  Are you being prepared for something?  Have you watched God work the details out in your life?  Feel free to stop by and share with me what God has done in your life.  I always enjoy hearing all about it!

Honestly, these last couple weeks have had a few ups and downs for me.  I could reach back even farther and say even 3 weeks ago… the ups and downs started shaking up my world.  You see, I felt like I reached the mountain top about 3 weeks ago.  I felt like I got to the top and I was thoroughly enjoying the view.  I was reminded of who God was in my life and all that He wants to do.  Yes, I continue to seek Him daily, but some days I do a lot more “seeking” than “finding”.  Do you ever have days like that?  Well, let me tell you…  I have had a few.
