new Year Reflections Christlike Jesus

Promise of Provision

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. (Psalm 23:1)

God has promised His provision for our lives.  He promises this all throughout His Word.  We can count on God to provide for us.  He will provide everything we need.  I did say what we need, not what we want.  God knows what we need and He will provide it in His perfect timing.  Sometimes it’s right at the last minute, but this is just to give us a greater dependence on Him and His ability to come through.  Because of God and His willingness to be our Shepherd, we truly can live in a state of not wanting anything.  Our lives are full and complete because of God’s provision.

“And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19, AMP)

I love this translation of Philippians 4:19.  God wants to liberally supply all our needs.  Wow, there is nothing He holds back when it comes to His children.  The next time you have a need… take time to pray, seek the Lord, and watch Him go to work on your behalf.  You serve a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills.  He will knock your socks off with His provision.  I can guarantee it!

“You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.” (James 4:2)

Too often we go to each other with our needs.  We complain or talk about how much we need such and such.  But we forget to ask God.  We look to solve the problem ourselves instead of turning to the one who knows the problem inside and out.  God wants to provide for you and me, but sometimes it’s just a matter of us laying the request at His feet.  There are times we do not have because we have not asked God.  God wants us to recognize our needs and come to Him with a humble spirit ready to receive from His hands.

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”  (Matthew 6:26-27)

God cares about the birds.  Every bird that you have ever seen has been cared for by the Father.  If God, cares that much about each and every bird, how much more does He care about you.  You were made in His image, made to reflect His glory, made to share His Truth, and made to shine for Jesus.  God cares so much for you and He will continue to provide all your needs.  This is His promise to you and you can cling to it for the rest of your life.

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”  (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Dear Father God, Thank You for being Jehovah Jireh, my Provider.  The lifter of my head, the sustainer of my countenance, the giver of everything good, and so much more.  Thank You God for constantly amazing me in the way that You provide.  I know that I have nothing to fear when You are on the throne.

Thankful for God’s Provision,
