Like a Thief

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this:  If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.  SO you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Matthew 24:42-44)

Lord, once again I’m reminded that You will come like a thief in the night.  No alarm will sound!  I must be ready at all times.  I pray that I will share the message of the Gospel to anyone who will listen.

Living by Faith

Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.  As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”  When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”  And as they went, they were cleansed.  (Luke 17:11-14)

Dear Father God, I have really come to appreciate the three words “as they went”.  It was as the 10 lepers walked out their faith that they received the miracle.  It was as they were going on with life that they experienced something that would forever change them.  Lord, please help me to remember that life doesn’t stop when things are tough.  Life keeps right on going.  But it’s when I put feet to my faith that I see huge answers to prayer. For God’s Glory

When he heard this, Jesus said, This sickness will not end in death.  No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.  Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.  Yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was for two more days.  (John 11:4-6)

Lord, please help me to remember that Your timing is perfect.  That sometimes the waiting is just another way to reveal who You are and bring You glory.  Lord, may I find joy in the waiting knowing that You have a purpose through it all.  Please increase my faith through my current obstacle.  Help me to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).  May I not lose sight of all that You can and will do through every difficult situation that I face. Safe in God’s Hands

The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.  And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages. [To all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed.] And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand.  My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all [else]; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father’s hand. (John 10:27-29, AMP)

Lord, I rejoice that nothing and no one can snatch me from Your hand.  What a beautiful promise You have given me to cling to.  I love the fact that nothing can take me away from You.  I love that You will forever be the Lord of my life.  Lord, please strengthen my walk daily and help me to live more righteously before You.  May my fumbles be fewer and farther between as I daily surrender myself to You and Your work.

Living the Abundant Life

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). (John 10:10, AMP)

Lord, please help me to remember that my enemy is out to destroy me.  He is looking for opportunities today to steal, kill, and destroy me.  May I not forget that my enemy roams around like a roaring lion.

“Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” ~1 Peter 5:8-9
