God’s Not Dead
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)
I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise.
I will bow down toward your holy temple
and will praise your name
for your love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things
your name and your word.
When I called, you answered me;
you made me bold and stouthearted.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)
I love the poetic words of David. He did not have the fancy things that we have now a days, yet he was mesmerized by the work of God. He knew that God created his inner heart, emotions, organs, desires, and unique talents. He saw God as the Great Designer of his life. “God knit him like a skilled artisan would weave a beautiful tapestry (Holman’s Commentary).” This same God knit the very fiber of your being. He placed in you unique talents and abilities. He gave you your smile. He made that precious heart of yours pump and provide oxygen to the rest of your body. He designed you and loved you enough to make you special. He has great things in store for you!
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:14)
Let’s take a look at Psalm 139:7-12 today. This part of the Psalm is declaring that God is omnipresent. He has the ability to be everywhere all at the time! There is simply nowhere to run from God. Let’s take a look at David’s thoughts on this and hear his heart towards God.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? (Psalm 139:7)
David asks a rhetorical question of God. He knows the answer, but he still asks. God can handle your questions. He can handle your doubts. He can handle your fears. Simply come to Him and ask Him what you may. Just make sure to brace yourself for His answer.
Psalm 139:1-6 declares the omniscience of God. Do you know that God is deeply familiar with all your ways? He knows you! He loves you! He has set you aside for a purpose! Let’s walk through Psalm 139:1-6 and see just how familiar God is with all our ways!
O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. (Psalm 139:1)
1. God Knows You
Nothing in your life is hidden from God. In fact, the word “searched” in verse 1 means, “to explore, to spy out, and to dig deeply into.” God sees what no one else can see! He sees the very depths of your being. I can’t imagine what He sees at the depth of my being. It leaves me in awe that He sees all the yuckiness of my heart and still continues to love me. Read more
