God is Omnipotent
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)
I love the poetic words of David. He did not have the fancy things that we have now a days, yet he was mesmerized by the work of God. He knew that God created his inner heart, emotions, organs, desires, and unique talents. He saw God as the Great Designer of his life. “God knit him like a skilled artisan would weave a beautiful tapestry (Holman’s Commentary).” This same God knit the very fiber of your being. He placed in you unique talents and abilities. He gave you your smile. He made that precious heart of yours pump and provide oxygen to the rest of your body. He designed you and loved you enough to make you special. He has great things in store for you!
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:14)
Can you say these words? Can you praise God for His marvelous work in your life? Do you see how wonderful the works of God are? Stop for a moment and please take time to express your admiration to the Lord!
“My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes say my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:15-16)
The moment you were conceived, God knew you! He formed that precious little body of yours in your mother’s womb. At conception, God immediately determined what gender you would be. Then, 1 to 4 weeks into it, He designed your neural tube system which would soon develop into your complete nervous system. Even in that short period of time, God was forming your heart and your circulatory system. God started the precious design of your life immediately. He saw you before anyone knew that you existed. God saw you, knew you, and gave you a great purpose to live out. He loved you before you even knew He existed. Wow, talk about powerful! This is our omnipotent, all-powerful God! He knew the days you would live on this earth before you even took your first breath. Seriously, God knows you and He cares deeply for you!
“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:17-18)
God’s thoughts are vast. You will never be able to measure the number of thoughts He has had about you and those you care about. I challenge you to go to the beach and count the grains of sand, or look up at the sky and count the stars. What’s that??? It’s impossible to count! It’s infinite! You are absolutely right! That’s the point, God’s thoughts about you are infinite. Then David turns to himself and says that even in the morning, his thoughts are on God. Do you wake up thinking about how you can serve God in your day? Are your thoughts turned over to the One who cares, to the only One who matters? Do your thoughts reflect a heart searching after the things of God? Oh, how I pray that our hearts would be steadfast after the things of God. May we follow Him and His purpose for our lives!
Dear Abba, The truths in Psalm 139 completely baffle me. I know that I will never be able to understand or conceive how much you have cared about me. I can’t grasp how infite your thoughts are for me and your great purpose for my life. So I simply sit here in awe and praise you to the fullest extent of my being. Please have my steps, my thoughts, my actions, my words, and my life. Lord, please have all of me! I want to be a vessel that you work through! I want to live for Your purpose alone!
Loving You Forever,
So encouraging for me this week! Thanks so much, Sarah!
amen Fearfully and Wonderfully made, may we all remember that
