Range of Motion

But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.  I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him… (Philippians 3:7-9)

Today I went in for an appointment with my new neurologist.  I had set this appointment up in June of 2008, right after I moved from Minnesota to Florida.  I knew it would be important to start over with a new neurologist, so I set myself up with the nearest appointment I could get with someone who specialized in the field of neurology that I have struggled with most recently.

Lessons of Righteousness ~ Psalm 119 Part 7

God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course. Give me insight so I can do what you tell me—my whole life long, obedient response. Guide me down the road of your commandments; I love traveling this freeway! Give me a bent for your words of wisdom, and not for piling up loot. Divert my eyes from toys and trinkets, invigorate me on the pilgrim way. Affirm your promises to me—promises made to all who fear you. Deflect the harsh words of my critics—but what you say is always so good. See how hungry I am for your counsel; preserve my life through your righteous ways! (Psalm 119:33-40, MSG)

Moving forward…
1.  We are revived by God’s Word.
2.  The Word is our instruction for life.
3.  The Word gives us determination for life.
4.  We grow when we are obedient to God’s Word.
5.  We increase in understanding as we pursue the Truth in God’s Word.
vs. 33 “God, Teach me lessons for learning…” Read more

Delightful Wisdom ~ Psalm 119 Part 4

You rebuke the proud and arrogant, the accursed ones, who err and wander from Your commandments.  Take away from me reproach and contempt, for I keep Your testimonies.  Princes also sat and talked against me, but Your servant meditated on Your statutes.  Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors. (Psalm 119:21-24, AMP)

Getting back to the heart of Psalm 119.  The test yesterday was ugly from a human perspective, but as I watched God turn things around all I could do was smile.  God was winning!  He always wins!  He is VICTORIOUS!  Whenever you doubt this and think someone or something is going to get the best of you, go to the Word of God and find the many times that God has been faithful to those who walk righteously before Him.  He does not leave us defenseless.  He always comes through for us!  Even in this part of Psalm 119, I can see that God’s timing is perfect.

Pearls of Opportunity ~ Psalm 119 Part 3

Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.  Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.  I am a stranger in the earth:  hide not thy commandments from me.  My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. (Psalm 119:17-20, KJV)

Welcome back to Part 3 of our journey in Psalm 119.  If you have been walking through this passage with me, you know that so far we have learned to:

1.  Walk with integrity and follow the instructions in God’s Word.  May it be our desire to reflect His heart with our actions in our daily lives.  ~Psalm 119:1-8

Treasured Words ~ Psalm 119 Part 2

How can a young person stay pure?  By obeying your word.  I have tried hard to find you– don’t let me wander from your commands.  I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.  I praise you, O Lord; teach me your decrees.  I have recited aloud all the regulations you have given us.  I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.  I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.  I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word. (Psalm 119:9-16, NLT)

Yesterday, we learned the importance of walking with integrity for God and following the instructions of His Word.  May our actions always reflect His heart and His desires for our lives.  We can’t enter in to the next section of Psalm 119 without truly committing to walk uprightly before the Lord in every action of our daily routine.  I know I want to reflect righteousness.  I want to live a life of faithfulness for God and follow His commands of Love.  When you can commit to this, then you will be ready for phase 2.
