Steps of Faith

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)

FAITH! A word we so often come in contact with as Christians, but seldom do we actually put it into practice.  Faith is a confident belief in the truth, value, and trustworthiness of God! We know that God will come through, not because the circumstances around us say so, but because God has been and always will be faithful.  He assures us of that time and time again in His Word.

Even when we can’t see around the corner of a mountain when we’re driving, we still take the corner. Even though we don’t know who builds the bridges we cross, we still cross them. There are many situations where we have to use faith to move forward. Will we apply that faith to our walk in Christ? Will we take the next step in faith knowing that He ultimately knows the way?

Do you have enough faith to take the next corner with God?  Trust that HE has wonderful things in store for you!  He won’t let you down!

Lord, I pray that you will increase my faith, so I may see things through Your eyes. My hope is in You, all that I have and all that am is in YOU! May I take the next corner in faith, trusting that You know what’s next!

Looking forward to what’s around the corner,

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48)

Matthew chapter 5 ends with this verse.  Let’s take a look at what it means and what God is truly calling us to.  The word perfect in the Greek actually means to be “mature, full-grown, finished, complete”.  God has called us to a complete life.  A life that is finished and leaves no loose ends.  If we look back over Matthew 5, we will see some of the loose ends that Jesus tied up for us.  He was showing us how to have a complete life in God.

1.  Focus on the Blessings (vs. 3-12)

Jesus started by sharing the blessings that will come with the Christian life.  These blessings come with blood, sweat, and tears.  The life of a Christian is not an easy road.  The truth is we don’t sign up for an easy road, we sign up for the retirement package.  We have a heavenly home awaiting us.  Every blessing reminds us that God sees our pain and He will respond to it.  He will bless those who wait on Him.

“Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…” (Mt. 5:12)

God’s Design

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)

Gianna Jessen has a powerful testimony of how God reached in and saved her life.  She is not afraid to share the Gospel of Jesus in a very direct way.  In one statement she says, “I didn’t survive to make people feel comfortable…”  I think sometimes as Christians we become a little too comfortable.  This is a story of a champion.  A woman who survived the odds stacked against her.  Please take time to view her testimony and allow God to embrace your heart through it!

Romans 8 Life

And we know in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

I’ve been reading and studying Romans 8 a lot lately.  There is so much in this chapter about how to live out the Christian life.  It’s one thing to read it and study it.  It’s another thing to believe it and follow it.  Let’s study it together and believe what God’s Word says!  May the Truth in God’s Word penetrate our lives and lead us to victory in Jesus!

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Vs. 1)

Worthy of Imitation

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:1-2)

Does Scripture ever just grab a hold of your heart and not let go?  Well, tonight that’s what this passage is doing for me.  I’ve read it quite a few times before, but tonight it’s convicting me in a new way.  This passage of Scripture has dug down deep in to my heart and not let go.  God’s Word has a way of doing that when we spend time in it.  God constantly wants to renew us through it and bring us to a new understanding of who He is and can be in our lives.  So come with me through this devotional and find out what this passage means for us!
