Wonderfully Made

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13-16)

In just a little over a month, I will be celebrating my 30th Birthday.  I have been taking a look back over my years on this earth and I’ve been celebrating the moments that God has given me.  I have so much to be grateful for and so much that I want to share with you.  In the next 20 to 30 days, I will do my best to bring you the concise version of the 30 years of life God has given me.  I pray you will celebrate with me and in this journey through my life, may you too find an occasion to celebrate the life God has given you.

Even More Undignified

“I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes…”

~2 Samuel 6:22 (NIV)

Lately, I’ve been listening to a song over and over again thinking to myself what will it take for me to become “Even More Undignified” or as David put it “I will become even more undignified than this.”  The song is Undignified by David Crowder Band and here are some of the lyrics.

Undignified

I will dance.

I will sing.

To be mad

For my King

Nothing Lord is hindering

This passion in my soul.

Incurable Joy

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)

This last week I was watching a show with Michael J. Fox in it called, “The Incurable Optimist” and a lot of it I wanted to apply to my Christian walk.  The world has some great ideas about hope, joy, and happiness.  I pray that we do not let them outshine us.  May we see what David wrote in the Psalms and apply it to our daily way of thinking.  May we wake up each morning and rejoice in the day God has given us.  Our days on this earth are numbered, the very breaths that we take have been given to us by God, and the opportunities we have to share the hope God has given us through Jesus Christ are slipping away.  We need to cease every opportunity we are given to share the hope that is within us and live with an incurable joy.  May the world look at us and see that we have a joy that can’t be shaken.

Moments of Tranquility

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 62:5-6)

Today I found myself in that familiar place of solitude.  A place of quietness.  A place where it was just God and me.  A moment in time where I was with my Father and nothing else mattered.  A moment where I found rest!  Oh, how my soul longs for those moments alone with God!  I love my husband dearly and I need my time alone with him too, but there are times I need to just get away with God.  I’m not talking about my devotional time.  I need that every day.  I’m talking about those moments in time where peace reigns in my soul and the very existence of time ceases to matter.  Have you had a moment with God like that lately?

He Holds the Answers

Then Job replied to the Lord:  ‘I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. (Job 42:1-2)

Are you in a place of testing right now?  Does it feel like everything is going wrong?  Do you feel like you have more questions than answers right now?  Do you feel like Job?  Have you heard Job’s story?  Well, let’s start from the beginning.

Job started by losing his servants, his oxen, donkeys, sheep, camels, and his children.  He went away to mourn the loss of his children.  He did not understand, yet he continued to trust in God saying these very words…

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” (Job 1:21)
