The True Genius Bar

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. (Psalm 68:19)

Have you ever felt like you are troubleshooting with your life?  I certainly have.  A troubleshooter is “a person skilled at solving or anticipating problems or difficulties (Webster’s Dictionary).”  And I should be clear that I feel more like the first part of this definition, a person becoming skilled at solving problems.  I can’t anticipate them very often, but they frequently come.  Let me give you some examples just in this last month…  The air conditioner broke down, the refrigerator door wouldn’t shut, the computer stopped working, my phone took a swim, the roof had a leak, and numerous other things have come up.  Each one God has helped Paul and I solve one by one.

Remember Lot’s wife!  Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. (Luke 17:32-33)

WOW!  These are some powerful words!  I would have loved to be there when Jesus spoke these words.  Every word He said was so direct and had so much meaning.  To understand these words we need to go back to the story in Genesis.  So let’s step back and see what was going on with Lot and his wife.

The story begins in Genesis 19:1, but for the sake of time we will pick it up in verse 15.  Two angels have arrived in Sodom to take Lot and his family out of the city.  After surviving a scandalous and wicked night in which the angels protected the family…  The angels share the plan to leave and ask Lot to gather his family.  It is now time to leave the city and this is where we will pick up our story.

All I really needed to know I learned in KINDERGARTEN “Genesis”

I’ve been studying Genesis a lot lately and I continue to be amazed at what I find there.  I have studied it many times before, but God always finds a way to help me experience it in a new way.  I’m starting to get the feeling like this could be a book that sets you up for life.  Kind of like that old saying, “All I really need to know I learned in Kindergarten.”  Yes, I feel it is very important to know the whole Bible and allow all of it to impact your daily life with the Lord.  Please don’t misunderstand me.

I simply want to draw some truths from Genesis to show you how exciting God’s Word can be.  It is vibrant, living, and active in our daily lives, if we allow it to be.  Sometimes we tend to make God’s Word complicated and forget to draw the meaning from it for our lives.  God wants us to seek His Truth, so we can be renewed daily in Him.  I pray you will take the time to read Genesis with me, at your own pace, as we embark on a journey to walk out God’s Word.

Wonderfully Made

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13-16)

In just a little over a month, I will be celebrating my 30th Birthday.  I have been taking a look back over my years on this earth and I’ve been celebrating the moments that God has given me.  I have so much to be grateful for and so much that I want to share with you.  In the next 20 to 30 days, I will do my best to bring you the concise version of the 30 years of life God has given me.  I pray you will celebrate with me and in this journey through my life, may you too find an occasion to celebrate the life God has given you.

Number One Book

I’m still in the mood to celebrate the number one and it’s meaning in my life.  I am now 6 days from my one year anniversary with my husband.  It’s amazing to think how quickly a year can pass.  God has been so very good to us!

Another thing that certainly has consistently remained number one in my life is the book I like to study, even in this last year!  This last year, I have taken time to study books on marriage, books on my relationship with God, books on my writing skills, books for the writing I want to do, even books for fun.  I have read all sorts of books, but nothing comes close to the BIBLE.  The Bible still is the number one book in my life that I enjoy studying.  The words jump of the page at me and I can’t wait to read it. It’s always so inviting and invigorating with stories that pursue my heart with God’s grace.  It’s amazing how timeless it can be and how it’s words can penetrate my soul.
