Jesus is Alive God is faithful

Living for Something More

So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18, MSG)

I love how the Message version shares the above passage of Scripture. We can’t give up! There is so much we need to keep on fighting for. Yes, in this life we are faced with some pretty tough things but we can trust that God has a plan through it all. He will not fail us. Sometimes it feels like we are falling apart at the seams but as we lean into Jesus and all that He is we find that not a day goes by without His unfolding grace.

The tough times on this earth can’t compare to what God has in store for us the moment we step into eternity. He has described it in such marvelous fashion in the Bible. The gates made out of a single pearl, the city walls decorated with precious stones, the glory of God shining like a jasper (clear as crystal), a city made of pure gold, no tears will be shed, no more pain, and no more sorrow. The Bible says,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.” (2 Corinthians 2:9-10, ESV)

We can’t possibly imagine all that God has in store for us when we get to Heaven. It’s going to be more beautiful than anything we have ever seen before. It will be more wonderful than any experience we have ever had. It will be worth all the painful moments on this earth as pain disappears and joy takes over. God is on the throne and His light will be shining brightly.

Even when the days are tough, we need to fix our eyes on what we were truly made for. This earth is not our home, we were made for something far greater than this! While we are here we have an oppotunity every day to make a difference for the King.

I pray that this week you will be able to see all your trials, pains, and sorrows in light of what’s to come. May you fix your eyes on the unseen and surrrender the temporary to the One who loves you more than you can imagine! God has a plan! He is on the throne! You can trust Him! He will not fail you! Keep your eyes on Jesus this week and allow Him to show you things from a different perspective.

Lord, even as things sometimes appear to be falling apart I look to You and trust in You. Thank you for grabbing hold of my heart at an early age. I really don’t know how I would survive the craziness of this life without knowing that I was made for something more. Lord, please help me keep my eyes on the unseen this week and remember that all of this here on earth is just temporary.
