Control Issues

I want to admit something to you!  I have control issues!  I want to control a good amount of my life, but the more I learn about God the less I feel that’s possible.  Yes, I can control my health, I can control the food I eat on a daily basis, I can control how much I exercise, and a few other things.  But if I want to be a wise person… I must surrender control of my life to God.  I must stop trying to plan my course.  I need to hand my steps over to the Lord.  Only God knows where my life is going or how to make the most of it!

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)

I stop many times to plan my day and chart my course.  But often I don’t include God in the planning.  I need to stop planning so much and just stop to listen for direction.  God knows I have 24 hours in a day.  He was the One who gave them to me, so I must stop and ask Him how I can best use each 24 hours of my life.  I want to wake up looking for God’s direction for my day.  I want God’s purpose to prevail in my life.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)

I want to commit my day to the Lord.  I want His plans to succeed in my life.  Are you with me?  Do you want the plans of the Lord to succeed in your life?

“A man’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand his own way?” (Proverbs 20:24)

Only God can see ahead!  I have no idea what’s around the next corner in my life.  I don’t know what I will face in the next part of my journey, but God knows it all.  The question is, “Will I trust Him with my future?”  Will you trust God with the next part of your journey?

Dear Father God, I know that all too often I plan out my days and forget to ask You what You want.  Lord, please help me to stop and listen for Your direction!  Please help me to search Your heart for the best way to live out my current moments and may I entrust my future completely to You!
