My Eternal Resume

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)

What’s God doing in your life?

This is my favorite question to ask when I meet up with someone. I absolutely love celebrating what God is doing. How has He been faithful to you?  Did He answer a prayer?  Did He show up in an unexpected way in your life?  Did He supply your needs in a new way?  I would love to hear all about it.

God has done a lot in my life.  I have watched Him be extremely faithful, answer some prayers, teach me to forgive again and again, help me to love in new ways, and so much more.  He is quite amazing!  In fact, this last month God has really been working on me regarding what my Eternal Resume looks like.  That’s right!  I remember back in 2011, prior to kids I was preparing for two reunions and I started to think, “What do I have to show for?  What will I have to say when I’m asked those famous questions?”  I was going down a never-ending road, but God caught me.  He showed me that my Earthly Resume isn’t worth much.  It will collect dust and fade away in time.  But all the things I do for His glory and honor will last for eternity!  All the things that can go on an Eternal Resume never fade away.

So here are a list of questions I’m asking myself almost daily, as I focus on what my Eternal Resume will look like for my Savior and King!

Thank you Lord!

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. (Psalm 100:4)

Dear Father God,

I want to thank you for this new day.  This new opportunity to serve you and know you.  Thank you for refreshing my mercy bank every morning I wake up.  I’m so blessed to be serving the Living God, who sent His Son to die for me.

Lord, thank you for my strong, god-fearing, and hard-working husband.  His love truly amazes me.  I’m blessed to be his wife and take this journey through life with him.

Laser Like Focus

But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.  For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.  He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.  Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 4:8-11)

This is a great way to start the week.  This passage is packed full of sweet morsels to get you through a new day.  I pray this acronym below encourages you and uplifts you in many ways.

Making the Most of Every Opportunity

Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.  (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Something that has been on my heart lately is to be more intentional with my time.  The days tend to pass pretty quickly and if I don’t make the most of the time I’m given then very little gets done or at least the wrong things get done.

I’m a visionary at heart.  I have a thousand things running through my mind.  There are so many things that I want to do.  And I often have to slow down to find out if they are “God Things” or “Sarah Things”.  To tell you the truth… there are a lot of “Sarah Things” that cloud my mind.  I’m pushing through those things and taking a step back.  I’m asking God to reveal how I can make the most of the time I’ve been given.

Are you tired of Small Talk

Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4, AMP)

This last week I was greatly blessed by a renewed friendship.  A friend of mine that I met in college recently moved to town with her family.  It has been 14 years since we’ve seen each other.  Thanks to Facebook we have managed to somewhat stay in touch.
