Victory or Defeat

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. There was no greater victory in history, then the victory of the cross.  God triumphed over death by raising His Son to life.  Through this one act, we now can experience victory in our own lives.  Today, we have a choice…  run with victory in mind or stand defeated.  Will you chase after the victory that is yours in Jesus Christ?

Slow to Speak

The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. (Matthew 12:35-36)

All I have to say is, “Yikes!”  I’m going to be held accountable for every careless word that comes out of my mouth.  Yowser!  I don’t know if you are anything like me, but I can probably count on at least one careless word a day.  I’d love to say I’ve conquered this, that some how I’ve learned the art of “being quick to listen and slow to speak (James 1:19).”  But that wouldn’t be very honest of me.

I’m seeing that I have to slow down quite a bit, listen up a lot more, and speak less frequently.  I want to be more careful when choosing my response to others.  I want my words to be Christlike, to be a reflection of God’s work in me, and to be completely honoring to God.  I want to choose each word wisely!

Just Wait

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10)

Lately, I have been hearing two words from the Lord…  “Just wait…”  I would love for Him to finish that sentence.  Let me know what I’m waiting for, how long should I wait, and when can I be done waiting!  Waiting is not my strong suit.  But this is where God has me.  I continue to go to Him on many things and the answer continues to be, “Just wait…”

Really, that’s it!  Just wait!  I would love a little more information please, but it’s not coming.  Not at this time!  God has a plan and I’m sure it’s incredible.  I will have to wait, as only He knows what’s best.

Old Habits Die Hard

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God… (Philippians 2:14-15)

I love it when Scripture just pricks your heart.  Just a little nudge in the right direction!  Way too often it becomes easy to complain about how busy we are, things that we don’t have, problems that we are facing, family issues, financial strains, and so much more!  You name it and we find a way to complain about it.

It’s time to adjust our line of thinking.  It’s time to look at what we have and all that God is doing.  Let’s be people who declare God’s goodness!  Let us learn how to daily walk without complaining.  The world might even take notice, if enough of us give up that old habit of complaining!
