A Heart of Thanksgiving

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. (Psalm 145:3)

Thanksgiving is not something that should happen in just November for Christians.  When we read a verse like the one above we should realize that thanksgiving should take place in our hearts daily.  God’s greatness is too much for us to fathom.  He has done so many wonderful things in our lives and our hearts should wake up each morning ready to offer thanksgiving to Him.

Bursting through the Gates

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. (Psalm 100:4)

This verse puts it so clearly.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving.  God calls us to be people who proclaim the glory of His name in everything that we do and say.  Do people know you are thankful for your job?  There are plenty of people out of work right now, so complaining won’t get you very far.  Do people know that you are thankful for your spouse?  Your commitment in marriage is a witness to those around you.  Do people know that you are thankful for your salvation?  You can’t convince anyone that Jesus is good for them, if you don’t show them the joy you have inside of you.

Just Wait

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10)

Lately, I have been hearing two words from the Lord…  “Just wait…”  I would love for Him to finish that sentence.  Let me know what I’m waiting for, how long should I wait, and when can I be done waiting!  Waiting is not my strong suit.  But this is where God has me.  I continue to go to Him on many things and the answer continues to be, “Just wait…”

Really, that’s it!  Just wait!  I would love a little more information please, but it’s not coming.  Not at this time!  God has a plan and I’m sure it’s incredible.  I will have to wait, as only He knows what’s best.

Wonderfully Made

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13-16)

In just a little over a month, I will be celebrating my 30th Birthday.  I have been taking a look back over my years on this earth and I’ve been celebrating the moments that God has given me.  I have so much to be grateful for and so much that I want to share with you.  In the next 20 to 30 days, I will do my best to bring you the concise version of the 30 years of life God has given me.  I pray you will celebrate with me and in this journey through my life, may you too find an occasion to celebrate the life God has given you.

Incurable Joy

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)

This last week I was watching a show with Michael J. Fox in it called, “The Incurable Optimist” and a lot of it I wanted to apply to my Christian walk.  The world has some great ideas about hope, joy, and happiness.  I pray that we do not let them outshine us.  May we see what David wrote in the Psalms and apply it to our daily way of thinking.  May we wake up each morning and rejoice in the day God has given us.  Our days on this earth are numbered, the very breaths that we take have been given to us by God, and the opportunities we have to share the hope God has given us through Jesus Christ are slipping away.  We need to cease every opportunity we are given to share the hope that is within us and live with an incurable joy.  May the world look at us and see that we have a joy that can’t be shaken.
