My True Identity

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  (Colossians 3:1-3)

If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.  (C.S. Lewis)

Finding True North

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this… (Psalm 37:5)

Let’s take a look at chapter 12 today called, “Finding True North”…

…We have explored the need to trust God with everything then we went into how to simply dwell in the land. The road didn’t end there though. We continued to follow it through the steps of delighting ourselves in God and finding out what His desires are for our lives. Now we are coming to an overpass. At least this is how I look at it. I look at commitment as an overpass because it can be an uphill battle at times, but it’s in rising above our circumstances that we become strong enough to travel the road of life…

Reflecting the King

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.  But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it— HE WILL BE BLESSED IN WHAT HE DOES. (James 1:22-25)

We were watching a movie last night on tv with some friends called “Deck the Halls”.  The movie came out in 2006 and really is quite funny.  But even more than that, there is a reality behind it that leads me to the sad truth in most people on this earth.  The two main characters in this story are trying to find their identity in this world.  They want to be seen by people around them.  The goal of the neighbor who has just moved in is to be seen on Google earth, to be seen from space.  Isn’t that the goal of most people we meet in life?

All Your Heart

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24)

“Whatever you do, work at it with ALL YOUR HEART”

There are no excuses for giving less than your best to anything you do in life.  The Lord has commissioned us to do everything with all our heart, never lacking in zeal.  I have seen some examples of this in the last few days (in 2009). Read more

Beauty in the Master’s Hands

Yet, O Lord, you are our Father.  We are the clay, you are the potter; we are the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)

Today, I continue to celebrate the moments in life God has given me.  I want to share with you an email I received a couple years ago.  I was reminded this week that there have been times in my life where the fire has gotten really hot and no matter how hot that fire gets, God is still in control.  The process can be difficult at times, but the masterpiece God is creating is well worth it!   I hope this story ministers to your heart, as you relate it to your own life.

There was a couple who took a trip to England to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.  They both liked antiques and pottery, and especially teacups…
