Faith in Action

1 Now FAITH is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2This is what the ancients were commended for.

3 By FAITH we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

4 By FAITH Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By FAITH he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by FAITH he still speaks, even though he is dead.

5 By FAITH Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without FAITH it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

What is Faith?

I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. (Psalm 89:1)

FAITH is dead to doubts–

Taking Action

But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. (James 2:18)

There is a controversy that is taking place about what is more important:  faith or deeds?  One person may think they have it all together because their faith is as strong as a cement wall.  Then you have the next person who thinks they have it all together because the things they do for others are too many to count.  The author of this passage wants us to realize that faith and deeds belong together.  I must live by faith daily and in that faith I take action to lead a life of service to the Lord.

Perfect Recipe

We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love. (1 Corinthians 13:12-13, MSG)

In this passage of Scripture we find the perfect recipe for a life of completeness.  Let’s cook a batch of this up and see how it changes our perspective!

Faith, Hope, and Love. 3 Basic Ingredients for a life of Completeness!

1.  Trust Steadily in God ~ FAITH

*Who are you trusting in today?

*Have you put your faith in God?

*Faith comes from the Greek word pistis which means “having the conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ, a strong and welcome conviction or belief that Jesus is the Messiah, through whom we obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom of God.” Read more

By Faith Alone

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)

What does faith look like?  Perhaps it looks a little like this…

It took faith for Noah to build an ark for the rain that would come.  Something he hadn’t seen before.

It took faith for Abraham to leave his homeland and obediently walk to the land God had called him to.

It took faith for Joseph to believe in his dreams.

It took faith for Moses to trust that God would set His people free.

It took faith for the Israelites to cross the Red Sea.
