By Faith Alone
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)
What does faith look like? Perhaps it looks a little like this…
It took faith for Noah to build an ark for the rain that would come. Something he hadn’t seen before.
It took faith for Abraham to leave his homeland and obediently walk to the land God had called him to.
It took faith for Joseph to believe in his dreams.
It took faith for Moses to trust that God would set His people free.
It took faith for the Israelites to cross the Red Sea.
It took faith for Joshua to trust that the walls of Jericho would come down.
It took faith for David to conquer a giant.
It took faith for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to survive the fiery furnace!
It took faith for Daniel to live through the lion’s den.
Every step, every move you make requires a little bit of faith.
Has God told you to get ready for a storm, like Noah?
Has God asked you to enter an unfamiliar land, like Abraham?
Has God given you a dream that you have yet to see fulfilled, like Joseph?
Have you come up across an obstacle in your life like the Israelites? Will you move forward in faith?
Those that are full of faith are full of power because by faith the power of God is engaged in us!
“We live by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Dear Father God, I pray that we will be a people who live by faith and not by sight. I’m not sure what You have in store for us in the coming year, but help us to remember that none of it is beyond Your control. May we walk forward, obediently and steadfast after You! May our lives be used to make a difference in 2012!
