Like a Thief

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this:  If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.  SO you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Lord, once again I’m reminded that You will come like a thief in the night.  No alarm will sound!  I must be ready at all times.  I pray that I will share the message of the Gospel to anyone who will listen.

Safe in God’s Hands

The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.  And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages. [To all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed.] And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand.  My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all [else]; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father’s hand. (John 10:27-29, AMP)

Lord, I rejoice that nothing and no one can snatch me from Your hand.  What a beautiful promise You have given me to cling to.  I love the fact that nothing can take me away from You.  I love that You will forever be the Lord of my life.  Lord, please strengthen my walk daily and help me to live more righteously before You.  May my fumbles be fewer and farther between as I daily surrender myself to You and Your work.

Light and Salt

Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.

Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

Working for the Kingdom

Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.  Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”  (Matthew 9:36-38, NASB)

Lord, please increase my compassion for those who are dying in their sins.  May my heart break like Yours does and may I be used to lead people to Jesus.  Please give me a greater awareness of those around me who need Jesus and help me boldly share the good news of salvation.  May I be used on a daily basis to advance Your Kingdom and Your purpose!

Lord, please give me eyes that see the pain others are facing, ears to listen to those who are hurting, and arms to love those in need.  Lord, have all of me and use me to share the Truth of the Gospel today!  

 

 

 

Influential for Jesus

 And Jesus said to them, ‘Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’ (Matthew 16:6)

Lord, I know that it only takes a little yeast to affect a whole batch of dough.  The yeast of this world could very easily corrupt me and lead me away from Your Truth.  I pray that the yeast of this world will not affect the work of You in my life.

Lord, please give me the strength to overcome the influence of this world.  I pray that instead of being influenced, that I can be influential.  May I influence people for You!  May I separate myself from the ideas and temptations of this world.  So that I can influence people to follow You and know You.
