And Jesus said to them, ‘Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’ (Matthew 16:6)
Lord, I know that it only takes a little yeast to affect a whole batch of dough. The yeast of this world could very easily corrupt me and lead me away from Your Truth. I pray that the yeast of this world will not affect the work of You in my life.
Lord, please give me the strength to overcome the influence of this world. I pray that instead of being influenced, that I can be influential. May I influence people for You! May I separate myself from the ideas and temptations of this world. So that I can influence people to follow You and know You.
Lord, I desire to be a full servant for Your purpose alone. Please help me to recognize the times when I am giving in to the influence of this world. Please help me to remember that my wealth is in You. I’m saving up for eternity. The pleasures of this world cannot satisfy my heart. Please help me to see when I’m allowing the world to dictate what beauty is to me. May I remember that true beauty comes from a heart sold out to You! Please help me to remember that my marriage, my son, my resources, my talents, my home, and all that I have is Yours! Lord, I pray that I will use all of it to further advance Your purpose!
If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. ~Matthew 6:30-33 (MSG)
