What about the Nails?

Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it. (Thomas to the Disciples, John 20:25)

Today I had to pick up a few things at the grocery store and I was reminded how quickly Easter is  rushed away.  The baskets, candy, and stuffed animals are being sold at half price.  Wasn’t it just a few hours ago we were celebrating the resurrection of our Savior?  I know the stores don’t necessarily have a concern for that.  Their concern is to move merchandise.  It was the same at Christmas time.  Everything came in and moved out.  People were in a rush to buy it.  But most forgot to celebrate the Truth behind the story of Christmas.  My hope is that the meaning of Easter will not be lost on the shelves of merchandise.

Feeling Blah

A few weeks ago, I woke up feeling blah.  I’m sure that you are familiar with that feeling.  That feeling where you would be happy to just lay in bed all day.  A feeling that comes out of no where and really has no reasoning behind it.  The week before I was feeling great!  I felt like God was doing some great things in and through me.  It was exciting!  There was really no good reason for me to be in a “Blah” state of mind.  Here are the words I wrote down that night before I went to bed.
~
I had a blah week.  Blame it on hormones, blame it on tiredness, blame it on a number of things. But the blame needs to go directly on me. I take the blame! No matter what anyone says, it’s a choice. I had a choice to stay in this blah state of mind or seek The Lord. I chose the blah. The blah sucked me in and made it difficult for me to escape. The blah stole moments from me this week. The blah lasted a lot longer than it should have.
~
My enemy was waiting for a moment to sneak in the blah, the mundane, the boring. God was waiting for me to come to Him to lay the blah at His feet. I didn’t come. I waited for it to pass. But it didn’t pass. It never does!

Forever Amazed

The love of God that we have come to experience did not get it’s start on Calvary’s hill.  It began when the earth was dark.  When nothing existed!  God’s love was there in the midst of that darkness.  He took time to form the earth, set the stars in place, give light to the day, and give breath to man.  He spoke the world in to existence.  There in that moment when nothing existed, you were on God’s mind.  He was thinking about you.  He was loving you!

“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight…

He chose you!  He chose me.  He set us aside.  Oh that just amazes me.  God loved me!  He loves me still!  He loves you more than you can comprehend!

Humble Servant Prayer

And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 10:1)
A servant waits
A servant serves
A servant asks for direction
Seeks the Masters purpose
Looks to fulfill His plan
Desires to advance His purpose
Humbles himself
Lifts the Master up
Chooses peace
Chooses love
Chooses honor

Well Done

His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’  (Matthew 25:21)

Well done!  These are the two words I want to hear at the end of my life.  That glorious day that I meet my Savior face to face.  I hope and I pray the words of Matthew 25 will come out of my Father’s mouth.  I pray that I will hear “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”  I have been thinking a lot about these words lately and what they mean.

It seems like people are getting more and more busy.  The consequence to this is that people are irritable, tired, weak, and frustrated.  I see it almost daily!  This brings me to the question of what is a servant supposed to do?  Does a servant stay busy doing things that don’t matter?  Does a servant have something on his plate every minute of the day?

Or does a servant wait?  Does a servant seek God’s best?  Does a servant stay available?  I find that Satan is sneaky.  He tries to slowly add things to our plate.  Each one can be well meaning and even good at the time we say yes.  But soon our plates get overloaded with things that just don’t matter.  We get so busy that we don’t have time to be still, time to wait, time to pray, and time to worship.
