Forever Amazed
The love of God that we have come to experience did not get it’s start on Calvary’s hill. It began when the earth was dark. When nothing existed! God’s love was there in the midst of that darkness. He took time to form the earth, set the stars in place, give light to the day, and give breath to man. He spoke the world in to existence. There in that moment when nothing existed, you were on God’s mind. He was thinking about you. He was loving you!
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight…
He chose you! He chose me. He set us aside. Oh that just amazes me. God loved me! He loves me still! He loves you more than you can comprehend!
…In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will…
He called us to be His children, adopted in to His family. He did this in accordance with His own pleasure. Wow, right there! It was a pleasure to God to adopt me as His daughter. It was a pleasure to Him to adopt you as His very own. A pleasure! Let that sink in just for a minute!
…to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves…
Freely given us! That beautiful, incredible, most glorious grace is mine… it’s yours! Not because I earned it, not because I always do things right, not because I’m perfect.
…In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace…
No, that beautiful, incredible, amazing grace is mine because Jesus paid my penalty on the cross. He took my sins to the grave! He died that I might experience the incredible richness of God’s grace. He became the perfect sacrifice for my sins, so I could experience eternal life.
…that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.”
God lavished this incredible grace on my life. Lavished! Another word that leaves me speechless! God thought I was worth it, so much so that He lavished His grace on my life. He poured it out freely for me through the blood that flowed from Jesus wounds. That day on Calvary’s hill has forever changed my life. But God’s love for me didn’t begin that day. His love was fulfilled to it’s greatest measure on that Hill as He sacrificed His one and only son for me! He placed the penalty for my sins on His Son. That is my story! My story of redemption! The story of God’s love for me!
~Ephesians 1:4-8 (in bold above)
Dear Father God, the thought of Jesus dying on the cross for me still brings me to my knees. I’m still so wicked inside filled with all kinds of ugly sin, but You loved me enough to send Your Son to die for me. Wow God, I’m forever grateful! I’m sorry for not always showing You that with my every day actions and words. I pray that I will be a living testament of Your amazing love and live to lift Your Son Jesus up!
