Eternity in View

The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from the nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Galatians 6:8-10)

A person can never truly appreciate the bloom of a rose without the work of another hand.  There is always someone who has planted a seed, watered the seed, weeded the garden, taken care of the soil, and harvested the plant.  We all need to make sure that in the act of our sowing, we are sowing for the Lord.  He is the One who sees our heart and knows our intentions.  May we sow out of the overflow of goodness that God has done in our own lives.  May we plant seeds of joy, peace, and love.  May we not look for the harvest, but know that God has plans that far exceed what we can comprehend.  Read the following story and see what I mean. God’s Doing the Thinking

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth:  It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:8-11)

This is a very packed passage and I pray you find all the meaning in it for your own life, as I unfold the meaning of it in my own life.  I truly enjoy how the beginning starts.  God’s thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways.  Sometimes this is difficult to understand.  Like Ralph Waldo Emerson says, “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”  We would all rather follow the trail that more footsteps have been on, the one that looks a little easier.

A Workmanship in Progress

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith– and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

BY GRACE:

We have the privilege to be saved.  What an amazing thing!  God’s grace extends to every corner of the earth to each person and covers over a multitude of sins through His grace, which comes through His Son’s blood shed on the cross.  It’s so hard to comprehend this AMAZING GRACE, that God so freely gives and never asks for anything in return.

Gifts Inspired and ALWAYS Encouraged

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.  If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.  If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.  To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever.  Amen. (1 Peter 4:10-11)

The Lord is so gracious in reminding me of the gifts He has given me and how precious those gifts are.  Yesterday, Paul and I flew to Hawaii and I was sitting back in awe of God again at all that He has done.  Paul is always like a little boy in a candy shop when we are on a plane, even though he’s a pilot, he just can’t seem to get enough of the air.  It’s quite exhilarating to watch.  God truly has given him the desires of his heart by allowing him to work in his passion and allowing me to travel with him.

Do you have an ANSWER?

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. (1 Peter 3:15)

This morning started out early, as Paul and I headed out to the airport.  Everything was going fine…we got to the airport, got our tickets, got our luggage checked, and…  Oh, here is where the “fine” takes a slight detour.  While in line for security, we realized we had been marked with the SSSS on our tickets!  We were going to have to go through the, oh too familiar extra security check!

Now granted, I have come to appreciate this check as it reminds me of the things that took place on September 11th, 2001.  I continue to be grateful for the men and women who are fighting to keep our nation safe from any more attacks.  So even if in this very moment I have to feel inconvenienced by a little security check, I’m ok.
