Do you have an ANSWER?
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. (1 Peter 3:15)
This morning started out early, as Paul and I headed out to the airport. Everything was going fine…we got to the airport, got our tickets, got our luggage checked, and… Oh, here is where the “fine” takes a slight detour. While in line for security, we realized we had been marked with the SSSS on our tickets! We were going to have to go through the, oh too familiar extra security check!
Now granted, I have come to appreciate this check as it reminds me of the things that took place on September 11th, 2001. I continue to be grateful for the men and women who are fighting to keep our nation safe from any more attacks. So even if in this very moment I have to feel inconvenienced by a little security check, I’m ok.
I always try to make sure that when I go through, I use the opportunity to be an etension of my Father’s love. Well, today was an experience all it’s own. One man took my things and started to search through them. He got to my Bible and started to search it. I said, “You will find some dangerous things in there.” He said, “Yes, all the way from Genesis to Revelation.” I said, “Yes, but the only real danger is if you don’t live by the truth that is found in there.” He agreed and we talked for a moment.
It was a moment I’ll remember. We need to have an answer. We need to remember that there is danger around every corner and God wants us to be ready to fight for Him at all times! He is always available for us! Will we be available for Him? Even more, will we have the answers that others seek for the hope that lies within us?
Lord, I pray that you will help me have an answer when people see the hope that is within me. May I point people to the cross and the joy that comes from knowing You! I pray that I will continue to be used for the Glory of Your name and Your Kingdom! This is the day that You have made, may I rejoice and be glad in it!
Desiring to point people to God’s Grace through Jesus,
