Resisting the Devil

My newest book Victorious Mindset will be coming out this week.  The official release date is April 14th.  I would like to share a few devotionals from the book with you.  This book is a 30 day devotional sharing how to have a mind set on Christ and be victorious over the things that we face in life.  The Victorious Living Collection would not be complete without sharing how to have a mind set on Christ.  I continue to enjoy this series of books so much and am so appreciative to God for giving me each book to write.  Thank you God!  I pray that these books will bring You glory and lift the name of Jesus high!

Resisting the Devil

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. —James 4:7

Live It Out

The devil knows how powerful your mind can be if focused on Christ. He knows that you’re a threat to him if all your thoughts are lined up with God’s Word. So he will attack. I can guarantee you that. The first place he attacks is your mind. If he can get your thoughts off of God, then he can take you any where. He will drag you through the mud and beat you up if you let him. But you can experience freedom if you simply submit yourself to God and resist the devil.

Do not—and I repeat do not—let the devil pester you! God is the authority over your life, and you don’t ever have to take what Satan tries to dish out. Do exactly what the Scripture says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Do not entertain thoughts that Satan may bring saying, “You’re not good enough,”“You should have done this better,” “If you were only like so and so,” “You need to be a better Christian,” etc. Don’t let Satan beat you up; instead, let God build you up!

The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. —John 10:10

Pray It Through

Dear Father God, today I choose to resist every ugly thought that the enemy tries to plant in my mind. I want my thoughts to dwell on Your goodness, Your faithfulness, and Your purpose for my life. Please give me the strength to resist my enemy today and experience the full and abundant life You offer.

And Satan trembles when he sees, the weakest saint upon his knees.—William Cowper

Molded Masterpiece

Yet, O Lord, you are our Father.  We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)

This is a magnificent picture when you take the time to think about it.  Sure a clump of clay is just a clump of clay, until the potter goes to work on it.  Imagine what the Grand Canyon would have looked like without God going to work on it. He designed every inch.  Or think of Niagara Falls, a splendid display of water gushing in all it’s glory.  What about the Great Barrier Reef? Read more

A Prayer for Our Nation

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Good Enough

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise, give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100:4-5)

Today I was taking a test that I have taken many times, but God showed me something new.  Have you ever had that happen?  It’s happened to me many times!  I’m so glad God can find new ways to speak to us even through the mundane things we have to do in life.  The test included some loud noises that made me think of the above verse.  In this world, we have to hear many things.

Time to Wake Up

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)

I cannot tell you how many times I have looked at this verse and asked myself, “will this be true of me some day.”  I believe with my whole heart that we can’t wait until tomorrow to start living out this verse.  We have to live it out today!  You can’t wait until next year to concern yourself about the kind of legacy you will leave behind because you’re not guaranteed next year.  You might not even be guaranteed next week, or tomorrow.  That’s not supposed to be a sad thought, it’s supposed to be your “good morning” wake up call!  It’s time to wake up and start living for God in a way that will show people you are running a marathon, not a 100-yard dash.  Will you be able to say you fought a good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith?  Let’s run the race together and finish well!
