God’s Design

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)

Gianna Jessen has a powerful testimony of how God reached in and saved her life.  She is not afraid to share the Gospel of Jesus in a very direct way.  In one statement she says, “I didn’t survive to make people feel comfortable…”  I think sometimes as Christians we become a little too comfortable.  This is a story of a champion.  A woman who survived the odds stacked against her.  Please take time to view her testimony and allow God to embrace your heart through it!

No Strings Attached

Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not support them both because of their livestock. (Genesis 36:7)

This passage of Scripture is referring to Jacob and Esau.  It is mentioned in the account of Esau’s life.  There is really little that we know about Esau, as we have come to know much more about his brother Jacob.  We know that Esau gave up his birthright for a meal, he lost “the blessing”, at one point in time he wanted to kill his brother, and then later in Scripture we find out that Esau had forgiven his brother Jacob.

Everybody Needs an Esau

But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him.  And they wept. (Genesis 33:4)

Jacob was a swindler to his brother Esau.  He snatched Esau’s birthright over a bowl of stew.  He simply waited for Esau to come in from hunting all famished and too hungry to make wise decisions.  Then he took advantage of the situation.  Here is the exchange between the brothers,

Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished.  He said to Jacob, ‘Quick, let me have some of that red stew!  I’m famished…!’ Jacob replied, ‘First sell me your birthright.’

‘Look, I am about to die,’ Esau said.  ‘What good is the birthright to me?’ (Genesis 25:29-32)

Pursuit for Truth

Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations. I cling to your laws.  Lord, don’t let me be put to shame! I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding. (Psalm 119:29-32, NLT)

INSTRUCTION ~ “Keep me from lying to myself…”

The Lord asks us to live by the Truth of His Word every day.  May we not compromise even in the smallest form, but may we see it as a privilege to know His Word.  His Word provides the instruction on life and when we follow it we can live life to the fullest. May we ask God to reveal even the slightest lie that we may be hiding behind, so that we can be fully revealed in God’s Truth. The Truth will set us free and there’s nothing better than living in the freedom of God.

You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty…  All those gathered here today will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves, for the battle is the Lord’s… (1 Samuel 17:45, 47, David to Goliath the Philistine)
