Missing Puzzle Pieces ~ Part 1

Therefore we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

It’s that time again, time to reflect back and remember what God is doing in our lives!  How was God faithful to you?  Did you see God answer prayer for you?  Did you see God give you strength when you thought you couldn’t possibly go any further?  Were you simply amazed by the beauty of God in creation?  I would love to hear how God has been faithful to you.

God’s faithfulness has been evident to me once again this last week in many ways.  The one thing that God seemed to be working on the most was how I see things.  I was convicted this last week about my perception of reality.  I’ve been looking at all the facts in my life and honestly they don’t line up in some areas.  I keep trying to put the pieces together, but they just don’t fit.  My life feels like a puzzle at times and quite frankly I’m always missing the important pieces!  Well, that’s what I keep telling God anyways.  Do you ever feel like that?  Do you ever feel like you can’t get the puzzle of your life together?  Is there always one piece missing?

I CAN

“I CAN do everything through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)

Today I had the privilege to watch a video that really touched my heart strings.  It’s about a man who was diagnosed as a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy.  This diagnosis was given to him at his birth and his parents were informed to institutionalize him.  However, they saw something special in their son.  They knew he was brilliant.  He had a purpose in life.  His parents believed in him.  One day, the son asked his dad to enter a marathon.  They entered and when they were done… Rick Hoyt said, “Dad when I’m running, it feels like I’m not handicapped.”

When God Ran

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:6-8)

What’s God doing in your life?

It’s Monday again and it’s time to reflect on God’s faithfulness.  How did you see God come through for you this last week?  How was God faithful to you?  Did God show you something new?  I would enjoy hearing how God is working in your life.  Drop me a line!

Heart Check

Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. (Matthew 6:1)

It’s so interesting that Jesus just got done sharing 9 steps to a life of righteousness and now He moves on to a warning. Jesus examines the motives behind three common acts among the Jews. He talks this over with the disciples because He wants to make sure the motives of their hearts are right. It’s great to know the steps of a righteous life, but we also need to understand the attitude behind it to do it well. Let’s take a look at the next three items and see what kind of attitude we should exhibit.

1. Giving to the Needy (vs. 1-4)

Now it’s very important to stop and look at the first verse. The verse from above. God’s not going to strike you dead if your attitude is wrong. He’s not going to hate you or turn His back on you. The thing that will happen is that if you seek your reward on this earth, then you simply will not receive it in Heaven. What’s more important to you? A temporary reward here on earth that lasts maybe a moment or an eternal reward that lasts forever! I can guarantee you the eternal reward will well worth the wait.

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’  (1 Peter 1:15-1)

What’s God doing in your life?

Take a moment to reflect back on the week.  How was God faithful to you this last week?  Did you see Him come through for you?  Is there something new that you learned this last week?  I would love to hear about it!  Drop me a line!

This last week, one thing that God has really placed on my heart is a need to do a little spring cleaning.  I know it’s early, but when I tell you where the cleaning is going to begin…I think you will understand.  I’m going to do a little spring cleaning in the branches of my mind.  I’m sure that sounds comical in some ways.  But honestly, I really want my thoughts to reflect Christ.  I know I can do a lot better than I have done, so I’m going to take the necessary action to do so.  Your welcome to join me!
