Home Run Hitter

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. (1 Corinthians 9:24)

I watched a great movie the other night that taught me a good lesson from the Lord.  It’s called “Moneyball”.  Now there are some things in it that I don’t agree with, but for the most part this is a great movie with a message that can really challenge you, if you let it.  I’m not going to share all the lessons I got from the movie because that would be enough to fill a book.  Instead, I’m going to focus on the main lesson.

The theme throughout the movie was “To get on base”.  The General Manager was putting together a winning Baseball team by looking at the stats of those who most often got on base.  The goal was to create a team with the highest average on base.

The Parachute

Strong Tower

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10)

Have you experienced the power of Jesus name?  Have you called on the Lord lately?  Sometimes, I think we forget the power that can be harnessed by calling on God.  We forget who God is and the vast character He possesses.  Is this you?  Have you forgotten who God is for you?  Let’s take a look at some of the names used to describe God in the Word.  Let’s call upon the Lord and find the comfort that only He can give.

1.  My Healer
