Who Asks the Questions?

Who endowed the heart with wisdom or gave understanding to the mind? Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?  Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens… (Job 38:36-37)

Someone told me that they saw this book called “Dancing in the Eye of the Storm on their parent’s shelf when they were a little kid and I thought how fitting this is for the Christian life.  “Dancing in the Eye of the Storm”  what an amazing thought!  How different the storm looks, when we decide to dance in the eye of it.

I cannot begin to count the ways that God has used different storms in my life.  There are times I wanted to kick and scream my way out of these storms.  Then there were times I have found myself in the Master’s hand, dancing in joy because I knew He would make everything okay.  I have enjoyed the below passage of Scripture because reminds me that God will never leave the throne during the storms in my life.

The Butterfly

The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days. (Deuteronomy 33:25)

The Butterfly

Author Unknown, Source Unknown

A man found the cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no further. So the man decided to help the butterfly, he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

At the Foot of the Cross

By:  Marcia Krugh Leaser, Source Unknown

Fearing the battle was over

And I’d already lost the war,

I was tired of trying and failing.

I just couldn’t fight anymore.

So, dragging my battle-scarred body,

I crawled to the foot of the cross.

And I sobbed.  ‘Oh please, Father forgive me.

But I tried…I tried.. and still lost.’

Then the air grew silent around me.

I heard his voice just as clear as the dawn:

‘Oh, My child, though you are tired and weary,

You can’t stop, you have to go on.’

But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Yesterday, I took the time to write about how we need to be faithful to God regardless of the circumstances we are in.  I would like to take the time to expand on this, as this last weekend and even today I have experienced God’s faithfulness in my life once again.  His faithfulness has not come in that nice little package with the bow on top, but it has come with the perfect amount of strength I have needed.

This last week I was struggling with a bad migraine and some severe neck pain from post surgery.  I was praying that God would give me enough strength to get through the weekend for a book signing I had on Saturday.  I knew that I wanted to reach lives and see God do great things.  It’s not enough to just show up and sign books.  I always want to be fully engaged with the people I meet and be able to share words of love that God would have me share with people I meet.

Entering the Battleground with God’s Strength

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”

“But sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?  Where are his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian.”

The Lord turned to him and said, “GO in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand.  Am I not sending you?”

‘But Lord,” Gideon asked, “how can I save Israel?  My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”

The Lord answered, “I will be with you…” (Judges 6:12-16)
