Longing for God

A white-tailed deer drinks from the creek; I want to drink God, deep draughts of God. I’m thirsty for God-alive.
I wonder, “Will I ever make it—arrive and drink in God’s presence?” I’m on a diet of tears—tears for breakfast, tears for supper. All day long people knock at my door, Pestering, “Where is this God of yours?”

These are the things I go over and over,
emptying out the pockets of my life.
I was always at the head of the worshiping crowd,
    right out in front,
Leading them all,
    eager to arrive and worship,
Shouting praises, singing thanksgiving—
celebrating, all of us, God’s feast!

Find Rest

God, the one and only—I’ll wait as long as he says. Everything I need comes from him, so why not. He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I’m set for life.

Pearls of Wisdom

Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.  Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.  I am a stranger in the earth:  hide not thy commandments from me.  My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. (Psalm 119:17-20, KJV)

What are the wonderful things we can receive by following God’s law?

First, of all remember there is freedom when we live within God’s law.  He created it as a loving father creates rules for a son or daughter.  They do so to keep their children from danger.  The Word of God has been given to us to help us see how best to live our lives for God.

Pearls of Opportunity ~ Psalm 119 Part 3

Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.  Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.  I am a stranger in the earth:  hide not thy commandments from me.  My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. (Psalm 119:17-20, KJV)

Welcome back to Part 3 of our journey in Psalm 119.  If you have been walking through this passage with me, you know that so far we have learned to:

1.  Walk with integrity and follow the instructions in God’s Word.  May it be our desire to reflect His heart with our actions in our daily lives.  ~Psalm 119:1-8

God’s Doing the Thinking

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth:  It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:8-11)

This is a very packed passage and I pray you find all the meaning in it for your own life, as I unfold the meaning of it in my own life.  I truly enjoy how the beginning starts.  God’s thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways.  Sometimes this is difficult to understand.  Like Ralph Waldo Emerson says, “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”  We would all rather follow the trail that more footsteps have been on, the one that looks a little easier.
