My Pocket God

…How long will you waver between two opinions?  If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him. (1 Kings 18:21)

How many of you know someone who is wavering between the One true God and a god of this world?  I happen to know quite a few and I love each opportunity I have to share the Truth of who the real God is.  There is only One who can save those who are dying daily.  There is only One who can stand the test of time and only One who does not demand our good deeds to make it to Heaven.  God Almighty is the only One who is living and active in our lives.  We pray to someone who lives today, who lived long before us, and whose presence we will still enjoy when we leave this earth.  There is no other religion that can claim a Living God, who sent a living sacrifice for our sins.

At the Bus Stop

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him. (Lamentations 3:22-24)

I went to get my hair trimmed today by a new hair stylist.  The beginning of the conversation started out a little rough as she shared her story of moving to Florida from Colorado.  I shared that I have only been here for a little over a year.  She asked where I moved from and I shared that I moved from Minnesota. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5)

Today I was in the grocery store, waiting at the deli for a pound of turkey.  There was another man who had asked for a pound of turkey right after me, only he had asked for “cracked pepper turkey” and I had asked for “garlic and herb turkey”.  The woman who was helping him reached for the turkey that was laid out for me and went to use this for the man.  She was about to give him the wrong deli sliced turkey to take home.  I leaned in and let her know what kind of turkey it was and the simple mistake was easily straightened out.
