Your Table is Ready

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17)

I shook my head in disbelief. This couldn’t be the right place. After all, I couldn’t possibly be welcome here. I had been given an invitation several times, by several different people, and had finally decided to see what this place was all about. But, this just couldn’t be the right place. Quickly, I glanced down at the invitation that clutched in my hand. I scanned past the words, “Come as you are. No jacket required,” and found the location.

Yes, I was at the right place. I peered through the window again and saw a room of people whose faces seemed to glow with joy. All were neatly dressed, adorned in fine garments and appeared strangely clean as they dined at this exquisite restaurant. Ashamed, I looked down at my own tattered and torn clothing, covered in stains. I was dirty, in fact, filthy.

Red Light Blunders

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10)

Have you ever done something so stupid that it didn’t even make sense to yourself?  Did you want to go back and apologize to everyone who was along the way of that stupid decision?   Well, I had a moment of stupidity just the other day.  I was driving to pick my husband up from the airport and I made a human blunder, an error, a downright moment of stupidity.  I was simply enjoying my time with the Lord.  Some great Christian music playing in the background and thinking about all the Lord has been doing in my life.  I was talking to God and sharing my thoughts with Him.  I was so caught up in the moment that I slipped through a red light.  Now, a quick disclaimer for my family (this is the first and hopefully the last time).

A Workmanship in Progress

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith– and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

BY GRACE:

We have the privilege to be saved.  What an amazing thing!  God’s grace extends to every corner of the earth to each person and covers over a multitude of sins through His grace, which comes through His Son’s blood shed on the cross.  It’s so hard to comprehend this AMAZING GRACE, that God so freely gives and never asks for anything in return.

Gifts Inspired and ALWAYS Encouraged

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.  If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.  If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.  To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever.  Amen. (1 Peter 4:10-11)

The Lord is so gracious in reminding me of the gifts He has given me and how precious those gifts are.  Yesterday, Paul and I flew to Hawaii and I was sitting back in awe of God again at all that He has done.  Paul is always like a little boy in a candy shop when we are on a plane, even though he’s a pilot, he just can’t seem to get enough of the air.  It’s quite exhilarating to watch.  God truly has given him the desires of his heart by allowing him to work in his passion and allowing me to travel with him.
