Patterns of the Mind

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:1-2)

Another week has come and gone.  I would like to take a look at our spiritual temperature by asking the one question I want you to become familiar with.

What is God doing in your life? When you reflect back on the week, what do you see?  Have you seen God’s faithfulness in your life?  Have you seen God use the verses you have applied to memory?  Have you seen God show up in a specific way in your life?  If so, I would love to hear about it.  Please drop me a line and let me know what God has done in your life.

Source of Life

I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.  John 15:5 (AMP)

Let’s look at who Jesus is and what His life offers for us.  Please take time to read John 15:1-17.  This will give you a better understanding of Jesus and His character as the True Vine.

This passage is fairly easy to understand…  We have life flowing through us when we stay attached to the True Vine.  It’s amazing how much life can flow through me when I’m attached to the Word and all that God says.  But the moment, I disconnect… the moment I disengage… death starts to creep in.  Okay, maybe not literally.  But Satan starts to hit with anxiety, condemning thoughts, frustration, irritation, anger, selfishness, and so much more.  My mouth tends to say too much when I’m not daily renewed by God’s Word.  Yes, it gets pretty ugly.  This is why I have to keep going back to the Word.  The Word is my life source.  It is what breathes goodness into me.

Friend or Enemy of God ~ Pt. 3

Behold, I am coming soon!  My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.  (Revelation 22:12-13)

Monday, I shared with you some thoughts about what my Facebook and Twitter accounts have to say about my relationship with the Lord.  If you would like to take a look at that post you can read it here, Friend or Enemy of God ~ Pt. 1  Wednesday I shared some thoughts on what my Bible, conversations, emails, and books reveal about my relationship with the Lord. You can read that post here, Friend or Enemy of God ~ Pt. 2 Today let’s look at a few more things.  My hope is that we can further evaluate where God would like to use us through the different activities we daily participate in.

Friend or Enemy of God ~ Pt. 2

Do not love the world or anything in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For everything in the world– the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does– comes not from the Father but from the world.  The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.  (1 John 2:15-17)

Friend or Enemy of God ~ Pt.1

You adulterous people don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?  Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.  (James 4:4)

This passage has got me to thinking… If I were to die tomorrow, what would my life say about me?  Would people see me as a friend of God or a friend of the world?  Would people know that I lived my life for God’s purpose?

This week I’m taking the time to evaluate if I’m a friend of the world or a friend of God.  I can really only occupy one position.  I can’t do both at the same time.
