Lessons in Leaning

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it onto completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)

This last Summer, I had a great opportunity to spend some time in Italy with my incredible husband.  The trip was amazing and I was blessed to see some new things in my faith journey with the Lord.  Our final stop on our trip was in Pisa, Italy.  It was here I learned the value of “Leaning”.

Have you ever thought that maybe the Tower of Pisa woudn’t be so famous, had it not been leaning?  The value in the Bell Tower comes from it’s ability to lean and not fall.  This got me to thinking, am I more valuable to God when I’m leaning!  More valuable when I’m leaning on the Word!  More valuable when I admit my imperfections!  More valuable when I surrender control!  The answer is a resounding “YES”!

I am Healed!

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

I confess this Scripture verse daily in my life.  Honestly, the reason I haven’t been writing is because I have been going through healing.  God has been extremely faithful to me and helped me come off every medication that I was on in the last ten years.  He has set me free from the physical limits my body had.  His work of healing continues in my life!

The road wasn’t easy.  Often, I wanted to throw in the towel and give up.  It’s probably been one of the most difficult roads I’ve traveled.  I needed to trust God with my healing, even when my body wasn’t showing signs of it.  Thankfully, I serve a God who continues to sit on the throne and watch over my life.  I praise Him daily for not letting go!  He has truly given me a new lease on this life and challenged me to go even further in Him.  (I will share more in later posts on this!)

The Life Giver

I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)

What’s God doing in your life?

Yes, it’s that time again!  Some of you have let me know that you enjoy this time.  This time to reflect back on all that God has done or is doing in your life.  I thoroughly enjoy reading how God has been faithful to you.  And I even enjoy the questions about how to handle the tough times with God.  The times that don’t make sense.  God’s faithfulness doesn’t always come neatly packaged.  So as you look back this week, can you see that God is still on the throne?  Can you see that He is still in control?  Can you see that your circumstances are not too big for God?  Can you see that quite possibly, He is working behind the scenes?  I would love to hear how God is working in your life!  Feel free to drop me a line and let me know how I can embrace this journey with you!

I missed writing to all of you this last week.  It was a busy week for me, as I watched my little brother graduate from Basic Training.  I enjoyed hearing all about his experience in the Army and watching him blossom into a man.  I’m so very proud of him and can’t believe that I have the distinct honor to be his sister!  I praise God daily for my siblings and all their accomplishments.  I’m so blessed to have 4 amazing brothers and sisters!  What are you praising God for today?

Running with Purpose

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)

What’s God doing in your life?

I love this time of the week.  This time where I get to look back and see all that God did.  It’s amazing what He can accomplish in a week!  I have watched God answer prayers, I have watched Him offer me strength in my weakness, I have watched Him restore my body, I watched Him mend relationships, I have seen growth in people around me and in my relationships with others.  I could go on and on about God’s goodness.  Of course, I’m still waiting on a few things but even in that I watch God give me the patience to wait.  So how has God been good to you this last week?  How did He come through for you?  Did He do something specific in your life?  Please feel free to drop me a line and let me know what God’s been doing in your life.  I can’t wait to hear all about it! This Little Light of Mine

No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl.  Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. (Luke 11:33)

Do you remember singing “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…”?  I’m sure many of you can fill in the rest of the words.  I grew up singing this song and being so proud of the fact that Jesus is in my life.  I wanted to shine His light and shine it brightly.  Sometimes I wonder, if getting older causes the light in me to grow dim like song lyrics fading in my childhood.   Sometimes as a child, we have no inhibitions.  We will talk to anyone and share what we are proud of!

Then as we grow older, we tend to become conscious of our surroundings.  We learn how politically correct we must be in our office environment, how carefully we must step around issues, and how to avoid certain topics.  Well, Jesus didn’t care about being politically correct!  In fact, He pretty much shattered all political agendas.  He didn’t step around issues; He went directly to them.  And He didn’t avoid any topic.  Just one look at Luke 11 and you will see how clearly Jesus brought the light, even when it made the Pharisees a little uncomfortable.
