Declaring God’s Faithfulness

For the Lord Most High is to be feared [and worshiped with awe-inspired reverence and obedience]; He is a great King over all the earth. (Psalm 47:2, AMP)

This week has been somewhat crazy for me, so I have not been able to get out the kind of devotionals I was planning on. Normally, I do a lot of studying before I write a single devotional. And I do my best to get all the devotionals done at least a week in advance. Well, life has done what it sometimes does. It’s turned my world upside down. It’s all good! God continues to be extremely faithful to me. In fact, I hope to write about this week’s events in an upcoming series.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:7-8)

I hope you enjoyed the start to this new series last week.  I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get something out on Friday, but I’m hoping I can get a devotional out for every day this week.  This week, I want to focus on knowing God.  We have talked about how important it is to know that there is only ONE TRUE GOD.  But now I want to move a little deeper into this study.

It is impossible to love someone who you do not know.  So this week, I want to dive into knowing God.  Do you know God?  Do you know what He has done for you?  Let’s explore some of the qualities of God this week and in that prayerfully we will come out loving Him more.

Finding Rest

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. (Matthew 11:28-30, MSG)

Are you soul weary?  Are you having a difficult time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel?  Is your heart heavy for someone right now?  Do you just need a moment of rest, a moment to breathe, a moment to escape the downpour in your life?  Jesus has the answer.  He has made a way for you.  Here are the steps to true rest for your soul.

Step 1 ~ Come

Yes, it’s that simple!  All you have to do is show up!  God wants to take care of the rest.  Jesus simply said, “Come to me…”  Will you come?

Conduit of Grace

And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity. (2 Corinthians 9:8, AMP)

‘I have made it back from my vacation in Minnesota.  It was so good to see my family and now it’s time for me to get back to writing.  Unfortunately, I did not have the time I needed to create new devotionals for you this week.  But I am working on a series that I think you will enjoy.  I’m looking forward to starting this new series with you next Monday.

The series will be on the Greatest Commandment that has been given to us.

Jesus replied, ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it:  ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ “
