What is Better?

Read Proverbs 26 today!

There are 19 Proverbs that talk about one thing that is “Better” than another.  Let’s take a look at some of them and find out what is better for our lives!

It is better to…

1.  Be humble

Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food.”  ~Proverbs 12:9

2.  Have Fear of the Lord

Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil.”  ~Proverbs 15:16

3.  Have Love

Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred.”  ~Proverbs 15:17

4.  Be Patient

Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.”  ~Proverbs 16:32

5.  Live at Peace with others

Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.”  ~Proverbs 17:1

6.  Be Blameless

Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.”  ~Proverbs 19:1

7.  Avoid the destruction of a foolish person

Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly.”  ~Proverbs 17:12

8.  Speak the Truth

“What a man desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.”  ~Proverbs 19:22

9.  Have a Good Name for yourself

“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.”  ~Proverbs 22:1

10.  Open Communication

Better is open rebuke than hidden love.”  ~Proverbs 27:5

Will you choose what is better?  Will you look for the better life that you can have in God?  In what areas of life are you compromising? Where do you need to find your way back to what is better in the Lord?  May this list get you on your way to choosing what is better!

Dear Father God, I pray that I will choose what is better in my life.  May I speak the truth in love, confront even when it hurts, be blameless before You and others, live at peace with those around me, have patience with others, and love people with Your love!  Oh Lord, I choose what is better today and every day!  Thank You for giving me the better option to choose!
