Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners– of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Timothy 1:15-17)
I am enjoying this passage of Scripture a lot right now for a few reasons. I would love to share those reasons with you and watch God do a work in your life. He continues to amaze me and brighten my days with the very words He breathed life into. I’m extremely grateful for the wisdom I develop through the constant study of God’s Word. I pray this passage of Scripture reaches you like it has reached me.

1. Vs. 15 ~ “…Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners–of whom I am the worst.”
The only way you can ever know more about the life Jesus lived is by reading about Him in the Word of God. He came to save you and I from sin, so that we may have a relationship with God. Paul understood this sometimes a lot better than many of us do. I think sometimes we take it for granted that our sins have been forgiven. Paul didn’t seem to take this for granted at all. Just moments before he wrote these words, he shared his experience before he became a follower of Christ.
“Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.” ~1 Timothy 1:13
Paul knew what he came from and he knew God’s mercy very well. He didn’t take a moment of it for granted. There are so many people in this world who have yet to experience God’s mercy or hear the name of Jesus Christ, so those who know Him should not take Him for granted. We should live our lives in full appreciation of all we have been given. Do you realize you were saved by God’s mercy through His Son Jesus? There is nothing you did to deserve it and nothing you can do to earn it.
2. Vs. 16 ~ “But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience…”
We are shown mercy though we don’t deserve it. My brain will never be able to comprehend it, but my heart slowly embraces it a little more every day. The word unlimited in this passage reminds me of the many things that are unlimited when it comes to God. These unlimited things that we experience come through Jesus Christ having the unlimited patience to live out His human experience on this earth and die for each one of our sins. To be honest, sometimes I don’t have patience for one person, let alone all the people that Jesus died for. How ’bout you where is your patience level for people? Have you appreciated some of God’s unlimited characteristics lately?
3. Vs. 17 ~ “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God…”
Eternal ~ God is not bound by time. He has no beginning and no end. He will never show up late. He will always be on time. He has loved you with an everlasting love and will continue to love you. He will be faithful to you no matter what.
Immortal ~ Psalm 139 puts this best…
“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” ~Psalm 139:7-10
Nothing can separate us from the love of God. NOTHING!
Invisible ~ God is everywhere, all the time. There is no where you can go that God is not there. He is always available and always desiring to be near to us. Will you draw near to God?
Dear Father God, I’m so grateful that there is an unlimited supply of your love and qualities. I can’t get enough of You. Your Word continues to draw me closer to Your side and all I want to do is become more like what I continue to see in every verse I read. Please mold me in Your likeness.
