Jesus God Proverbs Wisdom

Treasure Chest of Wisdom

How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver! (Proverbs 16:16)

It’s always so nice to start a new week.  It’s a fresh start.  I pray this week you will take these words of wisdom from Proverbs and let them inspire you throughout the week.  May wisdom and understanding be found in your treasure chest.  Here are some verses and ways to apply them to life, that will truly help you increase your bountiful treasure of wisdom and understanding in the Lord.

“All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord.” (Proverbs 16:2)

This week I challenge you to examine your motives.  Yes, many times we choose to do things for people and believe we are doing them out of a heart of goodness.  But sometimes deep inside there is another motive that lies within.  Ask God to examine the motives of your actions this week and allow Him to help your motives align with His Word.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3)

Has something been on your heart for a while?  Choose to give it over to God.  Let God handle the details of it.  You will never be able to accomplish anything on your own, but God can accomplish all things!  Commit whatever you do this week to God, and your plans WILL succeed!  Now remember, this isn’t in your time; it’s all about God’s timing!

“When a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.” (Proverbs 16:7)

Do not be so concerned about the people who surround you and how they are walking out their lives.  Be concerned about your life.  How does your walk look to the Lord?  Is He pleased with your actions?  Is He pleased with the ways of your heart?  God wants you to be living a right life before Him.  Make sure you live rightly before the Lord this week and let Him bring peace between you and others.

“The highway of the upright avoids evil; he who guards his way guards his life.” (Proverbs 16:17)

This week will you choose to take the high road.  Will you choose to avoid the bad decisions, the detours, and the dead ends?  It’s time to guard your way, as a way to guarding your life.  God wants to do great things in your life this week and it begins on the high road.

“A wise man’s heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction.” (Proverbs 16:23)

Will you draw wisdom daily from the Word of God this week?  When you pour wisdom into your heart, that wisdom will pour from your mouth.  If not, the other things of this world that you pour into your heart will come flowing out of your mouth.  It’s your choice!  What do you want to put in your heart this week?  What do you want to come out of your mouth?  Remember, everything you do and say will be noticed by someone.  Try to be the best image of Christ you can be this week!

Dear Father God, I pray that I will continue to draw from the wisdom found in your Word.  May You increase my understanding of all that is found in the Bible and help me to know You better.  Please teach me Your ways and help me to live by them in a greater way every day!

Living this week in God’s Wisdom,
