For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:17-19)
I’m so blessed by the depth of God’s love. I know that I have a bad attitude some days, I’m selfish other days, I tend to want my way sometimes, I think things that I shouldn’t, and the list goes on. But God continues to pour out His love in my life. He continues to shape me and mold me into all that He desires me to be.
He doesn’t say, “He’ll love me when I’m good enough.” He doesn’t say, “He’ll love me when I stop falling.” He doesn’t say, “He’ll love me when I stop being selfish.” He doesn’t put a price tag on His love. He doesn’t make me work for it. He simply loves me. What an astounding thought! God’s love has no measure! His love is vast and He truly lavishes it upon us. Wow, what a beautiful picture! I can’t help but smile thinking about it.
I think we all need a reminder once in a while about how great God’s love is for us. His love is boundless. It knows no limits. It exceeds your every expectation. His love is beyond measure. It’s eternal! His love for you is forgiving. He loves you with an everlasting love. A love that does not quit when you’re weak. A love that does not diminish when your faith is wavering. A love that does not let go.
His love is AMAZING! His love saved me from the depths of my sin. His love saved me from a life of eternity in Hell. I never have to work for His love. I just have to believe in His Son Jesus Christ. I must place my faith in the One who died for my sins.
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10)
Your love; O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. (Psalm 36:5)
Right from the beginning God’s love has reached, and from the beginning man has refused to understand. But love went on reaching, offering itself. Love offered the eternal… we wanted the immediate. Love offered deep joy… we wanted thrills. Love offered freedom… we wanted license. Love offered communion with God Himself… we wanted to worship at the shrine of our own minds. Love offered peace… we wanted approval for our wars.
Even yet, love went on reaching. And still today, after two thousand years, patiently, lovingly, Christ is reaching out to us today. Right through the chaos of our world, through the confusion of our minds. He is reaching… longing to share us… the very being of God.
