River of Love ~ Psalm 119 Part 8

May your unfailing love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word.Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, for I delight in your commands because I love them. I lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I meditate on your decrees. (Psalm 119:41-48)

I started a series on Psalm 119 in February and wanted to continue it once in a while.  Today I have decided to continue with the next part of the passage of scripture.  I pray God’s Word continues to touch your heart like it touches mine.  The Word of God is like a river.  You can attempt to step in the river at the same place twice, but since the water is always moving the place will never be the same.  The Word of God is like a river in that you can continue to go back to the Truth, it will faithfully be there.  God’s Truth will remain through all the years.  The Word will not change, God will not change, but when you read it…the Word will change you!  You may read the same passage every day for 30 days, but God could possibly show you something new in it every day.  God will reach beyond your expectations.  He is that big!

Walking in Worship ~ Part 2

‘Sir,’ the woman said, ‘I can see that you are a prophet.  Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.’ (John 4:19-20)

Yesterday, we learned three of the questions the samaritan woman was asking with this statement.  She was asking:  what is worship, how do I worship, and when do I worship?  We were able to explore the answers to these three questions, but one very important question was left behind.  Also, a very meaningful truth was not identified.  So let me take a step back.  I pray you will take the time to examine John 4:1-26 for yourself, as it does contain some beautiful words between Jesus and a woman who learned of His living water.

Pursuit for the Truth ~ Psalm 119 Part 6

Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations. I cling to your laws.  Lord, don’t let me be put to shame! I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding. (Psalm 119:29-32, NLT)

Yesterday we learned we are revived by God’s Word, we are to use it as a means to reflect on how we conduct our day, God’s Word teaches us about His character, and it will always be there to strengthen us.  Let’s continue into the next phase of Psalm 119.

INSTRUCTION ~ “Keep me from lying to myself…”

The Lord asks us to live by the Truth of His Word every day.  May we not compromise even in the smallest form, but may way see it as a privilege to know His Word.  His Word provides the instruction on life and when we follow it we can live life to the fullest.  May we ask God to reveal even the slightest lie that we may be hiding behind, so that we can be fully revealed in God’s Truth.  The Truth will set us free and there’s nothing better than living in the freedom of God.

Treasured Words ~ Psalm 119 Part 2

How can a young person stay pure?  By obeying your word.  I have tried hard to find you– don’t let me wander from your commands.  I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.  I praise you, O Lord; teach me your decrees.  I have recited aloud all the regulations you have given us.  I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.  I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.  I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word. (Psalm 119:9-16, NLT)

Yesterday, we learned the importance of walking with integrity for God and following the instructions of His Word.  May our actions always reflect His heart and His desires for our lives.  We can’t enter in to the next section of Psalm 119 without truly committing to walk uprightly before the Lord in every action of our daily routine.  I know I want to reflect righteousness.  I want to live a life of faithfulness for God and follow His commands of Love.  When you can commit to this, then you will be ready for phase 2.
